Mark Kirk Running Like Hell from GOP label in Ads
OK. So I just saw my first Mark Kirk ad here in Illinois. Here's the gist of it: I'm completely unaffiliated with any political party whatsoever!

Granted, this is Illinois. But where's this Republican wave when the GOP candidate for Senator sells himself by claiming the mantle of the "independent," the one with no party affiliation? There's even an opening in which Kirk "breaks through" a screen of Red and Blue. We know that Karl Rove is all over the Mark Kirk campaign from top to bottom. We can only assume that whatever internals they have say "Yeah, running as a Republican is not so good...let's invent this new 'independent' approach!"

I voted for Hoffman in the primary, and I think if Hoffman had broken through the Dem establishment here he'd be up 12 points in the polls right now. That said, these Kirk as are pathetic, and the guy is already pined as Pinocchio over his endless stream of exaggerations and outright lies. I think Giannoulis has a chance, bad bank and all.

1. Steele pulled that stunt along with his
signs and bumper stickers when he ran for Senate here 4 years ago. Thankfully it did not work. Hasn't stopped others from trying it since.

2. He Hopes No One Realizes He Is a Republican, Sir
It remains poison in Illinois, statewide, to be one....
