Sharron Angle explains exactly how much money a Fox appearance makes her
By Alex Pareene

Sharron Angle already explicitly said that she appears on Fox as a fundraising tool, because they allow her to tell viewers to go to her website and donate to her campaign. But Jon Ralson found a great tape of Angle at a house party over the weekend describing exactly how much buck a candidate can make off a Fox appearance.

Sharron Angle: It’s going really well. If you’re interested in just the Internet part of that -- and of course I’ve been criticized for saying that I like to be friends with the -- but here’s the deal: when I get a friendly press outlet -- not so much the guy that’s interviewing me -- it’s their audience that I’m trying to reach. So, if I can get on Rush Limbaugh, and I can say, "Harry Reid needs $25 million. I need a million people to send twenty five dollars to SharronAngle.com.” The day I was able to say that , he made $236,000 dollars. That’s why it’s so important. Somebody ... I’m going on Bill O’Reilly the 16th. They say, "Bill O’Reilly, you better watch out for that guy, he’s not necessarily a friendly" ... Doesn’t matter, his audience is friendly, and if I can get an opportunity to say that at least once on his show -- when I said it on Sean Hannity’s television show we made $40,000 before we even got out of the studio in New York.

So, again, Fox News is the communications arm of the ultra-conservative wing of the Republican Party. The fun part is that even when Bill O'Reilly does his "I'm just an independent" thing and actually questions a Republican, all his viewers hear and see is "send this woman money."

1. It's like a high-tech Amway presentation...
And anyone who has been to an Amway presentation knows what I mean...

2. When I moved to California as a teenager, we had a next door neighbor who was into Amway
It was pretty funny, because here was a person that we knew and had conversations with, but when she went into the Amway pitch, she stopped "conversing" with us and stayed 100% on script.

13. When I was in college back in the 1970s, I made the mistake of accepting a ride...
...to an AMWAY presentation.

A fellow in my dorm talked me into going to one and "offered" to drive.

I went and it was the longest afternoon of my life!

The instant I arrived I knew I didn't want to be there. It seemed like a party for smiling morticians.

But I had to stay until the fellow I came with was ready to leave. It seemed like hours! I might have walked but it was across town.

My advice to anyone is:
Don't ever accept a ride to an AMWAY presentation!!!

3. I don't understand how FOX gets by with that. Isn't there a law
where a network has to provide equal exposure to candidates? Does that not include cable? What about radio? Those stations are certainly one-sided.

8. Thank you. I think it should be reinstated. This issue is why this country is divided.
When you have one group of people hearing nothing but lies and distortions with the other side being told a totally different set of facts, there's small wonder that there is so much conflict. We had that WITH the Fairness Doctrine.
