1. Except if we really had the power none of this would be happening
Edited on Fri Sep-24-10 08:19 AM by lunatica
No American worker sat by to see his/her job outsourced to countries that somehow never benefit from that outsourcing. Mexico hasn't gotten fat and rich over those American plants moving there. We've just gotten poorer while Mexico's poor stay poor.

I'm not taking the blame. I didn't ever have the power to stop this.

Anyone who says it's our fault is giving the fucking wealthy a pass on accountability. The people that are to blame are the ones who have done this.

3. Rec'd for the message. NOT for the blame.
I went to multiple anti-war protests. I participated in pro-labor protests. I campaigned for Democratic politicians. I vote straight Democratic ticket . . . EVERY time.

One look at my journal will tell you that I'm a fierce advocate for a more equal society, VERY anti-job offshoring and decry any and all forms of Milton Friedman Disaster capitalism.

Don't pin the foot-shooting fail of Laissez-faire on me or 94% of the people on this site.

We DID our work.

Evil simply has too much money, power and guns. They co-opted both parties. Democratic congresspersons WANT tax cuts for the rich to continue. That's somehow MY fault? My senator is Sherrod Brown. Does said cartoonists think HE supports that shit?

Move that mirror to the Teahadist Reagan Democrat lap-trollops who all thought they'll be rich someday and that the magic piss of the Gates, Trumps and Waltons of the world would rain their dream life down to them.

Point that mirror to the insufferable, selfish, deluded and sociopathic wealthy of this country. THEY caused this mess.

Greed is the problem, not lack of effort. Rich men are never going to stop masturbating to pictures of soaring profit charts, queues of unemployed workers or piles of cash.

4. So your answer is, we don't have the will
I'm not disagreeing, but frankly, it is the people of this country who have voted these bozos in time and again. You and I have taken the time to become informed about the issues, and to decide for ourselves what direction the country should go in. Too many of our fellow Americans let themselves be led by the nose by whomever they see on Fox, CNN, ABS, NBC and the like.

And too many are quick to sell out their fellow american workers because they can save a buck. Or because they don't like "unions" or some perceived quality issue. Divided we fall.

5. I would also lay blame with the non-voters,
people, who for whatever reason, can't be bothered to get involved in their government.

7. Right, it's a matter of numbers -
If we're not all on the same page on even a few things, revolt and change cannot happen. Still way too many people believe in this American Dream, "trickle down" crap and that "unions had their place, and they're not needed anymore". And why shouldn't they? It's what they're told works on all the channels you just mentioned.

6. It is not the will, it is the money.
The true battle is between the rich and the poor. For the last 30 plus years the rich have been raging war on us. Our government is owned and ran by Billionaires and millionaires who represent their peers other millionaires and billionaires. They throw us a bone once and a while to keep us quiet and from rioting in the streets. This country is becoming a third world nation. A small group of extremely rich and the rest of us scrambling for scraps.
Look at how quickly Wall Street got bailed out and look at the fight over giving people an extension on unemployment insurance. To some in congress it is better to let people starve than to let Wall Street crash. They claim the recession is over but for who is it over for. It is certainly not over for the millions of unemployed Americans and the millions more who are afraid that they might not have a job by the end of the day.
One more thing the next time I hear jobless recovery I'm going to scream. You can't have a recovery without jobs.
