Action: Let's Vote Out GOP Senators Who Voted No on DADT Repeal and the DREAM Act
Today was the vote to bring the 2010 Defense Appropriations Act which included DADT appeal and an amendment to the DREAM Act. Shortly before the vote, the Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell offered the Senate Democrats a deal that said they would allow the vote to go forward if the DREAM Act Amendment would not be included in this bill. Because Senate Majority Leader Reid turned down that deal and all of the Senate GOP voted no and blocked the 2010 Defense Appropriations Act from coming to the Senate floor. Among those GOP Senators who voted no are 3 Senators who are up for re-election this year and have strong candidates who support DADT repeal. Let's GOTV and/or donate to their opponents and drive these cowards from office.

8. McCain, Grassley, and Richard Burr.
How much better would the Senate be without those three?

2. I agree, and while we're at it,
Let's have Obama issue an EO ending DADT during his term so that we can at least stop the bleeding.

3. That would serve to give Congress an out and wouldn't make it permanent
which is how it should be.

7. Well, it ain't got a chance of being permanent now for a long while
So why don't we actually start putting people first rather than politics and at least stop the bleeding for awhile? It is, after all, the right thing to do.

9. I disagree.
Reid intends to bring it to the floor again. I don't think this fight is over. This is a military spending bill FFS.

12. This is the best approach now. I still believe--Collins is going to
regret her weaseling.

15. Yeah, I'll believe that when pigs fly too.
Reid's not going to bring this up before the election, and he's not going to do so after the election. The defense bill will be stripped of the repeal provision after the RW noise machine hammers home the mantra that repealing DADT is playing with soldiers' lives and such. The Dems will cave, again, and the LGBT community will be left to twist in the wind, again.

Hell, if I had any I would be willing to put good money on this. But since public education is no longer a high priority with this administration, I'm without a job and money.

4. Also let's not support republicans who would continue this trend - like Christine O'Donnell
BTW, Chris Coons supports the repeal of DADT!

13. I don't know her mouse brain is still looking for the cheese in the trap

She calls homosexuality an identity disorder. Ironically her lesbian sister still supports her which makes her another 'Mary Cheney'

and thought it was real life.

17. In the year 1949 Harry Truman issued executive order 9981
And by 1953 the military was fully integrated. This in spite of the fact the both the military and Congress were against it. Polls showed the military opposed it by over 80% and yet it was done. A Philip
Randolph and others made it clear that if the Dems wanted the black vote they needed to get it done, but I think the old man from Missouri just made up his mind to do the right thing. Let's see if the DINO in the White house has the same courage.

19. That's easy to say. But if you notice most of the republicans
are entrenched in very very conservative districts. And there is no way to dislodge them.

20. the national party apparently figures Marshall (Burr's opponent)
is a lost cause. I have seen no money spent promoting her candidacy. I will work for her if and when that changes but so far I see no ground game, no air game, no game at all.
