McCain should be ashamed.
The Conservative assault on government was well-advanced by 2008 but the seminal event was when John McCain picked Sarah Palin. That broke the dam and opened up national office to utterly unqualified ignoramuses. This, I predict, will be McCain's enduring legacy: that he defiled the American electoral process. A fundamentally un-American act and a complete lack of patriotic honor. McCain should be ashamed.

9. I have been saying that he is the worst politician out there for putting her potentially a heartbeat
away from the Oval Office for his own selfish needs. Even
though there are so many horrific Repub politicians, what he
did has been the most dangerous thing a politician can do. But
it is so typical of McCain.

5. McCain traded his shame for a vote. He also traded what
honor, integrity and honesty he may have held.

7. Yeah, dropping that con artist on us was disgraceful, but
for my money he went rotten four years before at the Repub convention when he embraced that shirker Bush. Say what you will, McCain did his duty in the Navy. For him to suck up to someone who middle fingered his duty by failing to take his flight physical and then have Poppy cover his ass was a slap in the face to everyone who served with honor.

His father and grandfather must be spinning.

15. True - and he said not word about the idiots wearing purple heart bandaids
He knew what a purple heart meant and how people get them. He also knew that john Kerry was awarded two prestigious medals and he had worked with Kerry closely and knew that he did not deserve that kind of response. He could have criticized Kerry because he genuinely disagreed with how Kerry would handle the wars.

If he or his people had bothered AT ALL to vet her in Alaska, he would have known how divisive she is. Now with the nomination of Teabagger Joe as the Republican senatorial candidate here, and Lisa's write-in campaign, the Republican Party in Alaska will be forever fractured. Not that that's a bad thing, but the Repubs brought this all on themselves, and they can thank John McCain for it.

18. That too.
His first wife was in a terrible auto accident while he was a POW. The injuries and recovery did a number on her appearance. Not too long after he returned, he started putting the moves on wife-to-be #2 and did a Gingrich on #1. Don't know if he and Cindy were doing the wild thang before the divorce, but, if they were, that was a violation of the UCMJ adultery article.

Real piece of work.

23. "unqualified ignoramuses" are a double-edged sword
McCain should be ashamed, but his colossal lack of judgement in choosing Palin as his running mate may very well sound the death knell for the GOP in the long run -- because unqualified ignoramuses are, after all, unqualified ignoramuses. Ultimately they will fail because they are unqualified ignoramuses.

Not really. With our reaction to her nomination, and the resulting disembowelment of her entire being, I don't see any trend in the future...
