I believe....
I believe in myself. If I don't, no one will.
I believe in my close friends, who have been there for me, as much as I have been there for them.
I believe in the wisdom of those who have gone before me. If nothing else, they have experience to go on, while I have nothing.
I believe in science. If something can't be proved empirically, then how can it be proven at all?
I believe in love. I see it every day, in one form or another, and it makes me grateful for the friends and family I have.
I believe in constants. The sun will rise, the moon will shine, it will rain and thunder, and it will turn cold in the winter.
I believe in innocence. It is there, when you're not really looking for it, on a child's face, or on a loving companion's.
I believe in peace, even if it's only for a moment, when there is a warm summer breeze, and tranquility surrounds me.
I believe in freedom. How can I not? Our founding fathers fought to give us that, the best gift they could have given.
I believe in a piece of paper. It's called the Constitution of the United States. It is the rule and the law of the land, and as precious as any jewels or gold.
I believe in the future. We can't stop now--there is too much to see and know, and each changes happens at the speed of light.

I believe. As long as I am alive, I can't help but do so, with the promises of more to come, each challenge as complex as it should be. We still have much to discover, but I believe we are up for the games ahead.

1. Those are good beliefs.
Without the intent of being discouraging to yours:

I believe in nothing whatsoever without condemning the myriad of beliefs that can be clung to. Perhaps direct knowledge itself will suffice, though. Knowing is not static, nor precise, yet it gives me greater insights and satisfaction than any product of the cultural imagination can.

With all beliefs suspended, one can strive to understand or, with patience, wait and see. One eventually runs out of plaster with which to patch the cracks that inevitably form in the walls of faith and hope and so, effort is not required to simply watch the barriers of fiction crumble and peer out, curiously, to see what was obscured without prejudice or expectation, be it breathtaking, unsettling, or nothing special at all.

2. "...in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart." - Anne Frank
So do I.
