1. So sad that she felt the need to do this.
I hope she gets the help she clearly needs.

2. I'm just glad that an actual person was not falsely accused
The Duke lacrosse case--and those that defended the liar on this board--still angers me to this day.

27. And that's despicable, but I'm talking about a real live person with a name and everything
I'm just glad an actual person was not railroaded into a bunch of BS charges.

Now she is the one who I hope is charged.

3. I can't imagine the place one finds one's self to introduce this horror
I can only hope that she gets the help she needs - both physically and psychologically - without challenge.

8. And of course, who does she falsely accuse?
What group of people are maligned by her lies? The black community, of course! Whenever some self-absorbed, neurotic dipshit wants to make up a crime and go out attention-whoring, it's ALWAYS a black person who gets blamed, and the black community that suffers in the aftermath. How many black women were unnecessarily detained, questioned, investigated, harassed, or otherwise had their privacy and dignity violated during the course of this girl's sick little fantasy? Just ONCE I'd like to see one of these head-cases say, "It was a white guy in a dress shirt and Dockers, about 40 years old, with receding brown hair." I swear, the police would probably either laugh her out of the precinct, or keel over in shock at the idea that a middle-aged white guy could POSSIBLY be accused of a serious crime.

:banghead:

:grr:

23. And Susan Smith, the kid-murderer.
Oh yeah, it's a really common ploy. I'm surprised this time that a black woman was blamed. It's usually black men.

24. So did this guy...
Charles Stuart, who killed his wife, inflicted injuries on himself, then blamed a black man...

25. Well, except for the black girl who framed 3 innocent white guys at Duke.
And Tawanna Brawley.

Using racist generalizations in an attempt to call attention to other racist generalizations is a little bit pot/kettle, don'tcha think?

29. The Duke boys weren't 'framed'
Edited on Fri Sep-17-10 12:14 PM by NoGOPZone
at least not by the 'black girl.' Mangum was never prosecuted because investigators and attorneys felt she actually believed the story she told. Is the irony lost on you that if anyone framed them, it was the white DA?

However, I guess one out of two isn't too shabby for trying to prove the assertion that African Americans can lie about whites, if that even needed proving.

15. well, she's obviously profoundly mentally ill
It's also pretty damn irritating that she made up a story involving a black woman... why on earth? That part deserves all the criticism she's getting, but the rest is just sad.

19. no, she did accuse someone else but evidence showed there were problems with her story
and she finally admitted to doing it herself.

based on what we know it looks like she was looking for attention and money from idiots .

20. Maybe so, that is a common thought.
Edited on Fri Sep-17-10 03:44 AM by RandomThoughts
The 'they did it to themselves' is used many times to try and remove responsibility for wrong done to people.

So it sounded not accurate from that pattern. Could be as you posted in that case. Most cases that is not the reality of a situation.

It is also the argument for when someone interprets something in a bad way, and that leads to something dumb.
