Iran to Bush: admit 'failure' in Iraq

Iran tells US to admit 'failure' in Iraq

TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran said on Friday the United States should admit to a "failure" of its policies in Iraq in the upcoming Tehran-Washington meeting on Iraq's security if it wants the talks to progress.

"If the Americans admit to the failure of their policies in Iraq, have serious will to correct the current situation, and help the Iraqi people and government to implement security there, these talks can progress and create hope," Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki told reporters.

US and Iranian envoys are to meet in Baghdad on May 28 for talks on Iraq's security in what is believed to be the first official bilateral ambassadorial encounter between the arch-foes in three decades.

Iran will send an "experienced diplomat who has been an ambassador" to meet the US ambassador to Baghdad Ryan Crocker, Mottaki said.

2. who do these cocky Iranians think they are?
They can't insist on a two-way conversation, with caveats no less! We are the US and they are not!

Negotiations are where the subserviant crawl up to the foot of the throne, thank the lord and master for allowing them in his presence, kiss his feet, and then scuttle off.

What are they THINKING?

Next thing you know they will be suggesting we have free elections!
