Winona County wants to ban county employees from staying in hotels with porn
Source: Winona Daily News

Winona County employees may soon be restricted from staying in hotels that offer pay-per-view pornography.

County commissioners Tuesday will consider adopting a “clean hotel” policy. The guideline would prevent county employees from staying in lodging establishments that offer pornography services, though the policy does have several specific exceptions.

... Many county employees routinely travel as part of their duties, County Administrator Duane Hebert said, though travel totals were not immediately available Friday. Training and certifications for social workers, law enforcement officials and other employees often require they spend the night in a hotel, he said.

In those circumstances, employees would typically be reimbursed only if they choose a hotel that does not offer pornography, according to a draft county policy. More than 480 hotels in Minnesota meet that criteria, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

1. what kind of nonsense is this?
the rule for expense travel is, you pay for pay-per-view out of pocket, smut or no smut - it's none of their business what someone chooses to watch

7. I think the rule for expense travel is...
...you do it the way the people who sign your paycheck want you to do it. You can still stay in hotels with porn available, you just can't get reimbursed for it.

Is it a dumb policy? Hell yes, stupid squared, especially when they have so many other problems to spend time and effort on.

But I think they're gonna get away with it.

cynically,
Bright

9. Are they going to ban intenet access next? For god sake, there's much more
porn available on the net than in a motel room, and lots of it is FREE! What's wrong wit these prudish pilgrims anyway?

11. Were the employees putting porn on their expense claims?
If so they deserve to be fired for sheer stupidity.

If they were staying at a hotel that had porn and either paid for it themselves or didn't watch it, it's their own fucking business and the county needs to butt our.

This is the absolute dumbest kind of fundamentalist driven big brotherism imaginable. I'm glad I don't pay taxes in this screwed up county.
