The capitalists are bribing our government.
As they sit on $2 trillion dollars of capital, and as the unemployment stays extraordinarily high, the capitalists say they are "uncertain" about the future, because of things like healthcare reform and tax policies. They want our government to extend the taxcuts that directly led to the huge deficits that are reportedly at the root of our economic problems.

Their aim is to control our government and the people. Those that scream about Big Governmentand government control seem to prefer corporate control? The government is the people and we are losing control of our lives to the capitalists on Wall Street.

They refuse to hire people to work unless they get their taxcuts extended. There are reports that the S&P index of stock has threatened to lower the ratings on the bonds borrowed by our government. It is a bribe and we must choose sides. It is a war. What weapons do we have?

1. It's blackmail, just like the rating agencies are blackmailing
the government to follow recommendations of the deficit commission or have the ratings of govt. bonds lowered.

2. I saw a slide on our economy at the VFP Convention last week in Portland.
IIRC, the military takes 58% of all discretionary spending to keep the war machine humming. Nine years of occupation costs as well as stuff like $5 billion dollar destroyers and $40 billion dollar aircraft carriers has inched up the annual debt service to 7% of all discretionary spending.

Meanwhile things like education takes 4% of all discretionary spending. Four lousy percent.

There's something wrong here.

3. I disgree.
During the recent banking crisis, more than one person with credibility described the event as a "financial coup" against our government. I have seen no evidence that this is an incorrect characterization. The capitalists own our government.

4. And a liberal Democratic Party is our only hope...
of taking it back. Those that lay down with the corporatists are not the solution.

7. They aren't going to hire in any event, certainly not permanently
We're stuck in supply side insanity.

Structural entropy and a current cult like investment in a form of economics more like religion than even a distant relation to science or even art is a death spiral.

Stop listening to the fucking idiots that have proven wrong over and over because they have managed to steal massive amounts of value from the economy.

8. We tried supply-side for thirty years...
and it has been an unmitigated disaster. Cut taxes and the capitalists will supply whatever the economy needs.

9. Of course. And it works perfectly for those in the loop.
And it's all perfectly legal.

10. Our government
almost from the beginning has ALWAYS been captive to special interests. This is nothing new really, its just more of us are aware of how 'business' really operates.
Not sure what our options are except to form a Labor Party or some type of third party that represents the other 95%. Don't think that won't be a fight to get done...........

11. The fascist corporations have purchased our government

And, until we fully acknowledge that both parties serve at their pleasure, we will be unable to act.
