A Tea Party Gathering - Opening of Headquarters in Mocksville NC - Virginia Foxx main speaker
It was a fascinating thing to learn that the local Republicans are not supporting this opening of the "Men's Federation Republican Party Headquarters", what the local tea baggers have decided to call themselves. Now there is a split in the GOP in this very red county, and I don't mind that a bit.

I don't mind that the headquarters is right next to the Davie County Vaccuum and Repair place, either.

We protesters were not allowed off the side walk across the street, but I still want to take you along and show what I was able to photograph.
This is them, a paltry group of I counted 105.

This man drove up in his pickup with a sticker against Socialists. He circled us and took our photos close up. We stayed quiet and smiled, I took his photo right back at him.

A man taking a fashion risk

This unhappy, glowering, scared woman protected Mrs. Foxx, on her right, from the likes of me.
She and I were in a staring contest for a while. But I had the pretty big camera and could not be moved

And this is us
We were simply staging a protest, quietly. "All we were saying" was that Virginia Foxx does not speak for us.
When they sang patriotic songs across the street we sang along, and then we were quiet again with our signs.

I did not stay to hear her speak, I could not get a good picture in my position anyway, and I've heard her drivel before at numerous times. It was too dark for our signs to be seen by the time they had used up lots of time with needless fillers and I wanted to get a photo of these two things to show you.

Now that's pretty. And a lot more fun to look at than most of what I showed you earlier.

Seriously:

take a look at this to refresh your memory of who we need to get out of office, and to acquaint yourself with the very impressive person who is ready to step into it and work for us, instead of against us.

1. Foxx is just as batshit crazy as Bachmann and Palin, but not as national. nt

2. I never realized Foxx is crosseyed! It's apparent at your link
in the last pic. I don't mean to pck on anyone who has that problem, but I've heard the things that "B" has said on the House floor and she's worse than Backaman with the things she says! I'm sure hoping the people of NC throw her OUT!

You may erroneously assume this is a caricature.
It is actually a studio portrait.

14. Yup - you and I are having fun with this, saltpoint.
Come with me, next time.
This is my third time to report on a demonstration against Foxx.

19. You're doin' it right, Mira.
Foxx needs to know she does not speak for everybody -- thank god -- and you're telling her that, if she'd only listen.

3. Good news: Most these people probably won't live to see 2012.

4. I like how in picture #5 the people in the background
regard the storefront awning with the reverence it deserves.

7. Returning again to photo #5 ... this time zeroing in on
Edited on Mon Aug-30-10 11:20 PM by saltpoint
the gentleman in the background to the far right -- and I do mean FAR RIGHT --, his back to the camera, staring at the awning...

with a cowboy hat inexplicably riding on his hindquarters.

The hat appears to be unattached to anyone else but is simply there where it is.

An ass-hat, if you will.

8. This is twice now. You are cracking me up.
You have no idea how hard it is to chose what to show and not look too judgmental. I have stuff that would be so unkind to post...

But I had not noticed the study of the awning in a clear lineup of three fascinated observers.
And if you had listened to the words of the stream of people stepping up to fill time telling us who they are and why they are there, the awning was the piece de resistance bringing something of interest to the scenario.

I'm still smiling at your comments.

9. Mira, you are brave soul to wander in among these
Foxx fans.

Brave and sturdy.

Thank god you made it out ok and have lived to tell the tale.

Great photos.

Thank you. Recommended.

15. It's my fourth time already.
the first time we lost a few folks who returned to the safety of gunning their vehicles off the premises because of folks being armed.
The second time was indoors and very controlled.
The third I was the ONLY ONE not a tea bagger, and this one was truly dangerous. They wore shirts advocating their second amendment rights, and I wanted photos, so I clapped when they clapped.

Today was easy.
Cops kept circling. They were local cops. Their interest was to see one of us off the sidewalk for any time at all, so they could send all of us home.

13. What a grim assortment of people Physliss Shafelythey are.
Haven't seen that many downturned mouths since the 1970 ERA convention when the Mormons trooped in.

Foxx makes Phyllis Schlafly look positively giddy.

11. Yikes, that woman 'guarding' Foxx
does look as though she's been sucking green persimmons! Seems to be a common expression among teapeople, maybe not enough fiber in their tea...

Your Foxx, our Buck, both Tea Party darlings, and both steeped in ick.

16. What a way to kill a vacation buzz..
Welcome home, though not sure they are so happy to see you. Please post the ones you think might be mean and let us see everything you saw. I promise not to snark in typing.

I love that you go to these and share you photos with us while we don't have to listen and suffer through the something for nothing crowd.

17. Thanks for your support, CC, my friend.
And thanks for the recommendation which has already been undone by the DU policing police.
I went through and deleted things I was not comfortable posting, and pitched them for good.

You know that if I don't stay current, I'll be overrun. And then I don't have room for "tomorrow's adventures".

They say: Pay attention to what you do that engrosses you, and to what makes you lose all track of time when you do it.
Then do it for a living.

I think going on political under cover stalking photo shoots is mine.

20. You do a good job getting photos
at these and I know it can be stressful. Though must admit I love you vacation and around and about photos so much more yet in the long run these might be the more important ones.

When it comes to "mean" photos, I can understand the deleting and being cautious. Should you ever have one you really want to show but not let the person be recognizable you can always blur out the face. Say a t-shirt or other item of clothing makes a statement or some one armed to the teeth. I still avoid the local tea potty crowd. I worry I will lose my temper with one in particular and say something too mean since I know too much of the personal stuff.
