Obama says he isn't worried about Muslim rumors
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100830/ap_on_re_us/us_obama_religion

NEW ORLEANS – President Barack Obama said Sunday he isn't worried about a recent poll showing that nearly one-fifth of Americans believe he is a Muslim. "The facts are the facts," said Obama, who is a Christian. In an interview broadcast on "NBC Nightly News," the president blamed the confusion over his religious beliefs on "a network of misinformation that in a new media era can get churned out there constantly."

A poll released earlier this month by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center showed that 18 percent of people believe Obama is Muslim. That was up from 11 percent who said so in March 2009. Just 34 percent said Obama is Christian, down from 48 percent who said so last year.

"I'm not gonna be worrying too much about whatever rumors are floating on out there," Obama said Sunday. "If I spend all my time chasing after that, then I wouldn't get much done."

Asked about persistent accusations that he wasn't born in the United States, the president responded, "I can't spend all my time with my birth certificate plastered on my forehead."

3. I did and it was good.
Better in the begining when williams was asking actual questions about REAL ISSUES, like the economy, recovery, NOLA, etc. Then he verged into these stupid questions about what the lowest denominator of stupid people in this country think. How come no question on what the other side thinks, like those who believe in Public Option? Now that would have been interesting.

11. No, he said he saw fidgets and looked towards the people behind the camera
Probably some producer telling him to wrap it up. Or possibly they had a pre determined amount of time with POTUS and couldn't go over.

4. There's nothing anyone can do about rumors other than to dispute
them. He's done that. So, time to move on with a lot more pressing problems.

6. What this is really all about

Political posturing. Let's be real here. Muslims have about as good of a chance as winning the Presidency as atheists. Unfortunately it's in Obama's best interest for reelection to debunk rumors that he's a Muslim. And it's not that there's anything wrong with being a Muslim, but the rumor alone can cost him his reelection.

Ah! But on the flip side by fighting against the rumors he can then be smeared for implying there's something wrong with being Muslim. It's a lovely catch-22 the Republicans have cooked up.

17. I point at them and laugh.
But I understand the President probably shouldn't handle it that way, even though I'd thoroughly enjoy watching him do so.
