I nominate Christine Amanpour, This Week, as the best news program today
and highly recommend that it not be missed.

Her interview with the woman rabbi and the Imam's wife was outstanding as was her hard hitting interview with Karzi.

1. I like her and she is top notch but I reserve best for Amy Goodman
due to her attempts to expose reality to a propagandized American public.

2. I heard it and heartily agree.

This has been the first program I have seen where two of the people who are actually involved in the project have been interviewed. The rest have been, for the most part, uninformed RW politicians or RW ignoramouses (ignorami?) who didn't really know any of the facts. And who didn't care to know.

I was struck by how well the two women got along - there was definitely a feeling of mutual liking and respect - and how the Imam's wife had specifically sought out the advice of the Rabbi to build the kind of Muslim community center that the Jewish Community had built. The Rabbi also pointed out how the "anti" rhetoric seemed quite familiar, given the original history of prohibition even against the building of synogogues in Manhattan. It was a very interesting discussion.

It is interesting that it is women like Christiane (sitting in for Stephanopolous -sp?) and Rachel who try to present the facts while the others keep inviting the same-old-same-old mostly RW f**ts.

13. Great - I stand happily corrected!
I generally don't watch any of the Sunday morning shows - only when I'm in this country and only then b/c my spouse watches although I am usually doing something else while he does.

Christiane's an improvement IMO, so I did stop to watch for a while.

:hi:

3. I will give credit to the ladies for doing a much better job on the news.
The younger ones are much more accurate than their older counterparts. Fortunately there are not many Cheneys.

5. She and Fareek Zakaria may just redeem the Sunday shows.
Both are real journalists, not political hacks like that tool David Gregory or Candy Crowley.

10. Fareed Zakaria's show on CNN is very informative
Amanpour was always a top notch reporter, but I still don't care for This Week because of the pompous and elitist pundits it has.

11. She is getting better and better each week, as she becomes.........
Edited on Sun Aug-22-10 12:24 PM by State the Obvious
....more comfortable in her new role. What was so interesting about the conversation between the three women was that it was actually that......a conversation. No egos...no specific talking points....no political agenda.....just a a very relaxed CONVERSATION! How refreshing.

And as for the other discussions....they somehow became more civil AND understandable.....very different viewpoints presented in a respectful manner. Robert Reich and George Will actually turned to each other and listened as the other one spoke.....and Al Hunt jokingly commented on how (after listening to Reich and Will) he would like to defer his time to them.

This is what adult behavior looks like. What a difference.:applause:

Great job, Christianne!

12. Hopefully, she will be able to make the program "her own"...she needs to
Find her sea legs and develop her feel before she does.

As far as network Sunday AM programming, hers was the walk a way winner today. I can only see her getting better.
