2. As you may already know, Brian Williams was deeply affected
Edited on Fri Aug-20-10 12:19 AM by OHdem10
by Katrina. He has been following up on NoLa since Katrina
Debacle.

He talked about a Documentary he will present NBC THIS SUNDAY
and even now as he describes Katrina, and what happens you
can feel his anger. You gain the idea that when it comes
to Classism and Racism in this country, He GETS IT.

If Katrina had happened in the Hamptons, I cannot help but
believe the response would have been different. (Close to a quote.)

He does not want us to forget Katrina and make changes
so this sort of thing never occurs again.

1500 Americans died in Katrina. The number had begun to
slip from my mind. Let us not forget.

Check your TV for Brian Williams Documentary on Katrina.
This Sunday night.

4. I checked our cable listings & it's on at 7pm EST on the NBC
Dateline. I have noted it in my planner. Sometimes Brian is a good reporter.

5. That's a great synopsis! ... Bloomberg TV replays CR on the next evening.
I shouldn't have mixed those two messages in one title line.

3. Just came on here
and one of the first things he mentioned was CLASSISM as the reason there was so much suffering in NOLA. He also mentioned that it was the poor people in the Ninth Ward who had given that city most of its flavor and that many of them never returned, and that the government hasn't been rebuilding the poor areas, private charities have.

He's still furious about how badly it was bungled and how so many people who died didn't have to had the small government Republicans not been in charge and had FEMA not treated the people as though they were contagious.

I have to admit that the media coverage of Katrina, even Pox News coverage, was exemplary. They did their jobs for once, and that was the tipping point for the bullshit the Republicans had been spewing. Katrina was when all the bumper stickers came off cars around here. Katrina was when it became acceptable to speak of those men with pure disgust.

It's a good show. It demonstrates he's not the problem, corporate censorship of the news is and that good journalists are still out there.

This is worth watching.

7. if Williams has changed, that's good
Last 2000, he was a self-admitted Republican and a friend of Rush Limbaugh.
