If possible, please frame it in such a way that I can howl and gnash my teeth about Obama and "another promise broken."

Thanks!

28. Well, on a technicality...
That's a reason to feel shitty about the 50K staying behind, not the ones who are leaving.

14. they spent 7.5 years there before leaving,
accomplishing hothing but harm to America, her economy, her world standing, and her own self-respect.

Each soldier who leaves is cause to celebrate, but the entire invasion and occupation has been possibly the greatest disaster in the history of American foreign policy.

15. it was funny, the premier article posted here on Iraq the other day
. . . was complaining about the sorry state of political affairs and societal affairs in Iraq, arguing that it shouldn't be called the 'success' that Pres. Obama hasn't termed it yet. The one quote in the article had him praising the troops. Heaven forbid!

Presidential promise kept.

16. 50,000 troops and an unknown number of mercenaries at our expense
The surge fucking failed by the way so we have an ongoing waste and an epic money sink.

As to the rest, I suspect that the cost will be greatly reduced. Not to zero, unfortunately, but it's a step in the right direction.

That's why he continues to enslave the Iraqi people with these genocidal noncombat stormtroopers.

21. The war's not over, but Obama said he was going to draw all combat troops out by August 31, 2010.
And he has done that. It's not time to celebrate, but it is time to realize that he does keep promises and it should encourage people to have faith that we will soon be free of the Iraq albatross.

However, I always thought it was going to be finally over next year when the rest of them leave, but that's not 100% certain yet: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8972100

32. My son will be there in a few weeks. When we left Vietnam how many stayed?
We left a wide open door to send more. I am GLAD for those coming home, but this is not an end to a war but to the combat missions (which we will still have people there supporting).

On the strategic level this is a BFD.... and the Iraqis already tried to change the terms of the SOFA.

So celebrate tonight and get back to work tomorrow... to bring the REST of the force home.

39. Oh that's easy ...
Because President Obama hasn't Closed Gitmo, repealed DADT, legalized Gay marriage, completely turned around the economy, personally sucked all the oil out of the gulf, arranged for every unemployed person to win their state's lottery. I could go on, but I think you get me point ... this president is SOOOOOOOO disappointing. NOT!
