Why should Obama Reminding People of the First Amendment be "Outside the Mainstream"?
Okay... why should Obama's statement on the "Ground Zero Mosque" (even though it's not a mosque, nor is it at GZ) be a "problem for Democrats" in the elections? He was reminding people that ALL of us have the right to worship where and however we choose. Why is this a potential election issue?

1. Because the right wing blowviators and the M$M say it is.
And as you know, we are supposed to swallow their hogwash hook, line, and sinker.

2. Not that it's right, but there are democrats who think defending the Constitution
won't get them elected or re-elected.

3. Because Glenn Beck says so. If Obama listens to anyone, it's Beck. Sad, isn't it?

4. It shouldn't. but people are falling for the media's bogus spin. I
think the media had a slow weekend and decided to promote this. Why they didn't consider promoting the Constitution and rights of all Americans is very telling. That would have been easier and a clearer case, but noooo! They need to stir shit up to the detriment of us all.

5. This is the August silly season story of this year
It's this year's shark attacks (2001) and health care town halls (2009).

It will blow over by Labor Day. Just like the above two did.

8. Excellent question!
I think it is a potential election issue because the repukes and tea partiers want to make it an issue. The low info voters will believe anything rush, hannity, beck, and fox tell them, including Freedom of Religion is for every faith BUT the Muslims. They also think it is being built on the "sacred ground of 9/11, which it isn't. It is a Burlinton Coat Factory bldg a couple of blocks from ground zero and it will be an Islamic rec center not a Mosque.

10. Exactly..
and everytime one of these talking heads and so called journalists start talking about it they keep saying I don't know why he waded into this or why did he open this door knowing damn well they were going to draw him into it in someway all along.

Now,since he brought this up they will try to portray this as inexperience or some other bullshit and some liberal talk show host like bill press will start talking about why did the president do this falling right into their game. It is what it is, but they want to make this a big issue, here comes the terra, terra bullshit again.

Many people who still believe the Bush terra bullshit still can't see what they are doing because they continue to believe that the muslims are coming to get them. They can't seem to see that they have been living with and around muslims for years and we have all types of terrorists running around in this country everyday of every race, creed and color.Terrorizing women, children, the elderly with every damn crime imaginable and unimaginable.

The problem is that they think that they are putting in their faces when is was there before 911 and it isn't a mosque anyway. So I guess that we will be doing this wherever there was a tragedy in this country whenever something happens, what is around pearl harbor that relates to the japanese are they protesting anything there. Some are protesting mosques all over the country.

If I am remembering correctly I recall a documentary about this hollowed ground and that the graves of some slaves were in manhattan and under the world trade center anybody know anything about that?I remember seeing this documentary I believe it took place in the 70's or 80's..

11. Good question. I'm old enough to remember when people respected their President and looked to him as
a leader and as a guide to what was important to the country. Now they look to the talking-heads on TV to set the priorities.

12. Because it's important to reinforce the fiction that terrorism is based on religion.
It isn't, of course; terrorism like war is always political. Religion is being used for political ends. But we can't have Americans realizing this; it's so much easier to demonize Muslims.
