7. Conservatives love authority, that's all. They love the idea of the Constitution, because

it's old and they perceive it as part of the established order. They trample on it all the time, because they don't care about what it actually *says*.

Like the Bible, they ultimately view it as a symbol-- and a weapon with which to attack the weak and defend the strong.
