I watched Katie Couric's Falwell coverage tonight. Somebody stop me from that.

Katie Couric and the CBS Evening News lost me the first week for a number of reasons, especially giving a platform to the execrable Limbaugh. I never watch it. So I turn it on just tonight to see what they might say about Falwell. After worshipful comments from McCain (who kneeled before Zod Falwell) and Newt Gingrich (no comment necessary), they turned to a couple of "religious figures" for commentary. Did they have a mainstream person of the clergy? Heavens forbid, someone critical? No, they had the right-wing Dr. Robert Schuller of crystal cathedral fame and the right-wingiest Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in a worship fest of Falwell I had to turn off. Guess he's above criticism. Typical of where the media is now - downright "fair and balanced," I would say.

Goodbye again, Katie and CBS News. There is one born every minute, and this time you got me.

I wish they would move Olbermann to 9 or Stewart and Colbert from the night before to that time so they wouldn't be on against each other, because they and PBS are what I watch. And tonight's CBS News reminds me why (OK, so I watch The Weather Channel, ESPN and House Hunters, too).

11. Yes, NPR has gone gutless. PBS still has a pulse.

PBS has fallen, as well (a Richard Perle special? Shudder. . .). At least Bill Moyers is back. Under full attack from O'Reilly and his orcs, but Moyers can take it.

Forget about NPR. I listen to them still for something in-depth on the nightmare that we are living through, and get stuff about recipes.
