Sent to arrest the cursing flight attendant: 100s of officers, helicopter, swat team
A neighbor, Howard Sirota, who lives across the street, said hundreds of city, state and federal officers, a helicopter and a SWAT team descended on Slater's house Monday before he was arrested.

"They acted like they were capturing Osama bin Laden," Sirota said. "First they knocked on the door so it shook, and next they took it off its hinges."

5. Probably very little
Unless you count the loss of tax revenue at the donut shops.

Just kidding, of course.

2. The ironic part here is if he had simply beat the living shit out of the guy
He would be facing far less serious charges.

11. It wasn't a guy the flight attendant had an altercation with
It was a woman, and he might have been in just as deep a pile of shit.

I'm curious why he's considered some sort of folk hero, the cussing was the least of what he did. If you think I'm wrong, just try deploying an emergency slide when none is absolutely needed, and see what they charge you with.

13. Several news stations said it was a guy
I haven't seen anything on it lately.

Regardless, the reason he's considered a folk hero is because lots of people have to put on a happy face when dealing with dickhead customers, and everyone has their breaking point.

14. As for having to put on that happy face
I know that all too well in my job. But I'm not permitted to yank my phone out of the wall when they get to be too much.

Yes, the passenger was clearly an insensitive idiot, this area is chock-full of them. But a mere cussing out of the woman involved was more than enough. Emergency slides cost money to replace after they've deployed, and no doubt there were passengers in that terminal who were waiting to get on that aircraft for its next flight out. He made them wait a couple of hours while the slide was replaced, and he's no hero to them.

4. Maybe 'Professional was there go code." just a joke.

What a story that would make.

Sure its just fun, but what a story. LOL Anyone seen the scenes from Professional. To make a story out of it, they would have had to go around and have told everyone to be ready for Gibbs go code. LOL. Having fun with imagination, what a story that would make.

The Democrats attacking progressives. Ahh, and a couple days ago someone said the gloves were off. Maybe Mitch didn't like what John said to him.

Sounds like they really are all Republicans. Or maybe Corporist.

A little closer.

And the comment on cursing, and Goldman Sachs said no cursing, it is a Goldmans op. Thanks for that. That assures they got nothing.

Fuck, just for fun. Remember the story when Goldmans said no swearing. They are trying to back Goldmans, the high priest of money.

That's it.

Thanks for filling out the details.

So, why are you attacking progressives, a claim to power and ability to dictate. Thats it isn't it.

Goldman Sachs are criminal in money, and worshipers of money in spiritual, they have no moral, nor spiritual defense in any action taken, only money as a weapon. little pieces of green paper.

And they never answered, what view of God do you have to defend that your actions are God's work?

Big hug for the comedy :) lots of love :)

12. I'm not at all sure what that comment had to do with the OP.
Or with anything, for that matter.

there is ZERO corroboration for Sirota's account. But, nonetheless, the DU "shoot first, ask questions later" contingent does no fact-checking and immediately piles on.

I'm not saying it couldn't be true, however, it seems highly implausible and I think it would be prudent to look for corroboration before uncritically accepting it. At the very least, I would expect DU to try to differentiate itself from FR.

For example, look at the accompanying photo of the flight attendant leaving the jail upon posting bail and read the caption:

JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater leaves a correctional facility in the Bronx after posting bail,Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, in New York. The 39-year-old veteran flight attendant was arrested Monday at his home in the Belle Harbor section of Queens by Port Authority of New York And New Jersey police on charges of criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and trespassing

Does that really sound like someone for whom hundreds of federal, state and local police, as well as a S.W.A.T. team were sent to arrest???
