Insider Speaks Out On 'Professional Left' Rift
Best opinion piece I've seen so far on this insult.

3. Don't miss FunkSands' response..
"I confess, I am confused. We are so close to an unassailable majority.

Watching what the GOP does out of power is even more motivating to me than the cr*p they pulled while IN power. This issue is a stark reminder.

You think the excitement level would be ENORMOUS! We are almost there!

Just because Obama isn't "minty" enough for your delicate tastebuds does not mean you throw the ice cream down the disposal.....and then follow it with your hand.

HE'S NOT A LIBERAL!!!

But he could be a bridge to one.

Voters, your move."

4. "Our job as progressives is to never be satisfied,
to always be impatient with the pace of change." This is in the last paragraph, and says it all. The Professional Left are just doing their job.

This piece was excellent.

5. I read this piece
He says the administration doesn't work with progressives because of arrogance. While I'm not discounting the arrogance, I have a different theory. I don't think the administration believes in progressive values. They're corporatists to the bone, and they have more in common with right wing supply siders than they do with the progressive left. I think Obama was a trojan horse candidate and we were suckered. They want a republican congress that will make it easy for them to do things like social security "reform" and education "reform".

6. I hope you are wrong. I have a different opinion.
I think that they know we have no place else to go. Green party? Not a real option at this time. So yes, it is arrogance, but in the way that they know we are stuck.

7. no doubt but no contradiction either
That's the famous Lanny Davis line, I forget the words but he very candidly stated how the Clinton administration viewed the left exactly as you said, they have nowhere to go so have no leverage.

There's no contradiction, though, both sentiments can be true. We have nowhere to go, and the Obama administration doesn't agree with us ideologically. At least the Clinton administration still included the left, though they sold us out completely when it came to financial deregulation and offshoring of labor. Bend over, here it comes again.

8. It is a shame that this administration is not showing any respect
to the liberals. But there will be a time when there will be a candidate who rising in a third party and takes the cake. I never thought I would see that day, but after the number of votes Ross Perot got as a third party candidate, I think anything is possible. Especially since he was pretty flaky on many things. Just don't know who or when.
