| Yesterday, two things happened |
|
One of those two things tangibly affected over 300 hundred thousand people directly while indirectly positively affecting millions more. It was something real, something that kept food on people's tables, something that kept people's power on, something that kept people's families intact.
The other thing that happened hurt people's feelings, caused them outrage and generally irritated them. But other than ruffling some feathers it didn't take food off of people's tables, cause them to lose their homes or cause them to lose their jobs.
Two things happened yesterday......one made a real positive difference in people's lives the other gave them something to squawk about on the internet.
But despite the real world importance of the one and the superficial nature of the other, the news media, blogosphere and even reasonable people on this board chose to spend an inordinate amount of time and energy on the latter.
