6. It's not even that they rebel so much as they take you at your word.

Children, little children, believe their elders. They expect what they are told to be true. When they find out it is not true, they demand that you make it true. I grew up a child of the nation that saved the world. We were the good guys who didn't shoot prisoners, torture, ....we were the boy scouts. And then they gave us Viet Nam.

It's not rebellion to insist that your nation live up to what it told you it was, is it? The young Iranians simply demanded that the Ayatollahs and Ahmadinejad live up to the principles of the revolution that deposed the Shah. That's more traditionalist than rebellious, really.
