Gibbs is useless.

Did Kennedy have a Gibbs? Were there daily press breifings before Clinton?

I say cut the White House Press Relations staff at the top, fire Gibbs, and get out there and talk to the "professional" liberals, yourself, Obama... once a week, on the TV machine, with Keith and Rachel and Cenk in the audience asking questions.

1. Wasn't Pierre Salinger Kennedy's press secretary?
Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 06:08 PM by babylonsister
I don't know of a prez who didn't have a press secretary, at least in my lifetime.

And the Prez does his weekly address on Saturdays; I think your idea is whacked. He has more important things to do. When it's necessary, he schedules a speech/avail to inform.

7. Pierre Salinger became a legend after the assassination, he was TOTALLY
in control of the press, for his boss.

He didn't screw up and then back track.........he was the BEST

I was around to watch it. The worst criticism of Pierre was that he had a French name!

11. Aren't you the person who asked if Kennedy even had a
press sec?

And iirc Salinger went off the deep end after TWA 800 went down...why yes he did.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWA_Flight_800_alternative_theories

Pierre Salinger

One of the first widely reported criticisms of the official investigation was by Pierre Salinger, who on November 7, 1996, held a press conference in Cannes, France. He stated he had proof that TWA 800 was shot down by friendly fire, and the incident was being covered up by the government.<6> Salinger said "he was basing the claims on information he saw in a document given to him six weeks ago by someone in French Intelligence with close contacts to U.S. officials",<6> but refused to name his source. CNN quickly found Salinger's document to be "a widely accessible e-mail letter that has been circulating for at least six weeks on the Internet's World Wide Web."<6> Salinger's evidence was actually an e-mail from Richard Russell, a retired airline pilot.<7>

Salinger's previous position as White House Press Secretary, as well as long time correspondent for ABC News, initially gave credence to his statements, transforming them from "internet conspiracies" into the mainstream.<7> However, under scrutiny, his allegations, and the reports issued with his collaborators, became the subject of much criticism in the media.<8><9> Bob Francis, the vice chairman of the NTSB, was quoted as saying "He was an idiot, he didn't know what he was talking about, and he was totally irresponsible."<7>

9. I guess you don't follow daily news briefs, 1/3 of Democrats were just insulted
by Gibbs' remarks about some of us being on drugs.

I think someone showed him a Young Turks clip from MSNBC...

He got pissed and damned 1/3 of the votes for Obama to "we don't care" land!

12. Nope. Only those that think Obama=Bush and those that get paid for their opinion.

He didn't insult anyone else.

Lots of you decided it was about you, but it wasn't.

14. It was about all of us who.............
wanted single payer options
wanted DADT to go down in flames
wanted Obama to tell Republicans that they are full of SHHHHHHHT
wanted less not more in Afghanistan
wanted a WPA or something REAL to employ a million or two million unemployed and get off the Bush disaster economic crisis
wanted charges brought against Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, several other Republicans who sold us down the road.. engaged in vote fraud, etc.

etc etc etc

Have we included YOU yet?

Gibbs told us, in short, forget progress and assertive leadership... Obama is all about bowing to Republicans all over the place.

and "Bully-Pulpit" about the steel industry, and other issues, so EVERYONE got the clips on the 6:00 or 7:00 PM news locally.

And this was before digital media, everything was filmed.
