Angle’s economic views are reckless

To hear GOP Senate nominee Sharron Angle tell it, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is solely responsible for the high unemployment rate in America (9.5 percent) and Nevada (14.2 percent) and the subsequent bankruptcies and foreclosures. Do you believe her?

Consider that this recession started in December 2007, under President George W. Bush, and when Barack Obama was sworn in as president in January 2009, we were losing 750,000 jobs a month — all Reid’s fault, according to Angle. Know also that this recession is worldwide, with many countries experiencing unemployment rates similar to ours. Look at Greece with 11 percent unemployment, Ireland with 13 percent, and Spain with an astounding 20 percent. Would Angle blame Reid for these rates as well?

It's a mixture of wacky libertarianism and a childlike belief in the invisible hand of the omnipresent free market fairy combined with a mawkish belief that Christian morality will triumph over greed if we do away with all the regulatory laws and allow it to flourish.

Were economic times any better in this country, that insanity would serve her well and sweep her into office, which is why economic times never stay good for long.
