Source List and Detailed Death Tolls for the Twentieth Century

Very detailed list, multiple sources cited.

http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/warstat1.htm

Persecutions of people based on their religion through history - Various groups have been killed off, tormented, exiled, etc at the hands of each other. Romans, Soviets, China, etc and so on all took part - as did each of the short list below (ie, they persecuted/killed off each other depending on who was in power):

Christians:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Christians

Jews:

Muslims:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Muslims

Buddhists:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Buddhists

Simple overview -people in power have used that power time and again to kill or persecute those whom they did not like. No group is clean of this, American Indians killed each other time and again and enslaved one another. Communists, Christians, Democracies, Atheists, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Indians, Chinese, Nigerians, hell the list is endless.

When someone says 'Well, group X has a history of harming others' I say - what group can claim it has not done so?

It has been so since life came upon this planet. Animals have killed each other (and not just for food, Ants might be a good example), humans have as well.

There is always someone to fight against - even when violence is not involved. People still work hard to control other people - from abortion to what people eat, smoke, drink, drive, etc.

No real point here - just an observation :)
