1. Yes! Build American.... Buy American
I long for the days of quality auto parts, quality building materials, quality clothing.

Goldman-Sachs and the Hedge Funds will do everything in their power to stop America from getting their factories back.

2. Buy it in America, too.
Heading out to the local Arts Market tomorrow to find some birthday presents--all locally made, of course.

3. Here in central NC we have a lot of empty factories , mostly textile
sitting empty and starting to fall into ruins.
I would love to see some of them start making bamboo textiles and flooring.
If I had any idea of how to raise the capital, even at cost to my health(long term hiv survivor) I would do it.

We have even already started some bamboo. Not sure of the species, but the clump I got my starts from would reach 35 45 in height and up to 6 inches across at 5 ft off the ground. I used some to build a big canopy behind our house because the summer sun cooked that side of the house and it even stood up to 80 mph straight line winds at least 3 or 4 storms like that, the tarps shredded, but the structure stood for several years until we moved and I took it down. Bamboo grows fast a stand can mature in 7 10 years(when the majority of the culms reach full size for the species) you can cut them ever 4 5 years or so and they suck up a large amount of CO2, are not water or fert intensive, well only in spring for 2 months when the new culms come up.

4. A new entity was formed specifically with this in mind...
The governor of NC just signed legislation this week for a new entity -- an L3C -- which is a hybrid of for profit corporations and non-profit, the idea being that the social mission has more focus than profit generation.

And, it was the empty textile factories in NC, I believe, that spurred the push to get L3C's in NC, to get foundation money investments for these areas. You might Google a few of these key words and see if there is a way to work on this issue further?

That's fascinating idea to make use of bamboo to revitilize these industries.

You should pursue it! :hi:
