In NC, we replaced a corrupt Republican w/ a fake Democrat
We elected Heath Shuler over long time corrupt and contemptible Republican senator "Chainsaw" Charlie Taylor. Shuler has been a complete 'Republican-lite' disappointment.

Now, an insane tea bagger type is running against the fake Dem.
So we're going to have vote for the fake Democrat to keep the psycho out of office. I can't stay home for this one, yet I cannot stand Shuler! It all seems like a sick joke!

Poll shows North Carolina Rep. Heath Shuler in tight race

By Bill Theobald • Gannett News Service • August 3, 2010

WASHINGTON — A new poll released Monday shows Democrat Rep. Heath Shuler in a dead heat with Republican challenger Jeff Miller, apparently putting in play a House seat many pundits have predicted Democrats would hold easily.

The poll, commissioned by the conservative Raleigh-based Civitas Institute, shows Shuler of Waynesville favored by 45 percent of those surveyed compared with 44 percent for Miller of Hendersonville. The poll of 400 registered voters by SurveyUSA has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.

Gibbs Knotts, head of the political science and public affairs department at Western Carolina University, said the results aren't surprising because the district went for Republican John McCain during the 2008 presidential race and because national trends favor Republicans in the fall election.

“The economic situation, the president's low approval ratings, and the fact that Democrats have more to lose should translate into substantial gains for Republicans,” Knotts said.

Miller said the results confirm his instincts.

1. The fact he is in a tight race blows away the DLC theory
that when people vote for Democrats, they want conservatives. When they want conservatives, they vote Republican. It does not matter in what area of the country.
