Have the number of unsolicited 'pre-approved' credit card offers by mail went way down for you?
Edited on Sun Jul-25-10 10:12 AM by NNN0LHI
Got about a half a dozen at the beginning of the year and about another half dozen the beginning of July, but that's about it. Used to get that many every week.

Anyone else notice this?

I usually get none. Something must have fallen off my credit report. Not much, though, 'cos the apr's offered are hovering around 29.9% if... lol

CapOne was still at it. My credit score has gone up since I have cut up the cards and pay cash now. I use the First National Bank of Anne credit card, she has better rates ;)

22. Capitol One
keeps sending me pre-approved credit card applications. I no longer use my Visa or Mastercards and my credit rating must be poor and Capitol One is still urging me to use their credit card.

14. My junk mail of every description has fallen to near zero in the past few months.
In fact I was worried that my ex was stealing my mail or had mail intercepted or something. It turned out that wasn't the case - the junk mailers just don't love me anymore I guess.....

17. Last one I got was about three months ago
I used to empty the little shredder container once a month. Now it's once every six months.

Coincidentally, I froze my credit rock solid last October.

I'm delighted not to get these things. I still get the rare phone solicitation because anybody with money in the bank is still a target, frozen credit or not.

However, it's finally dawned on them that they're going to have to concentrate on getting the debts out there paid back if they're going to remain solvent, so floating the economy on plastic is not happening any more.

And that, Virginia, is why we see so many stores shutting down.

20. They will let you transfer any balance I think?
Balance left on a car note or house loan?

That balance transfer offer is not usually limited to other credit cards.

I have never done it but I am pretty sure it works that way?

When they call, I always suggest that they just lower the interest rate on the card to zero..& maybe we'd use it more :)

We don't finance cars :)..& I would NEVER put a house on a card..unless it was a VERY cheap house :)

I do get many communications from my current card banks - all with "checks" I can use to string myself out on the debit ledge, etc. They all get shredded.

26. I went to the FTC opt-out website.
I was getting inundated with about 30 per week. I counted 20 in one week from Citi alone! Within a month, I was down to nearly zero. I still get an occasional one from Discover.
