3. And MSNBC is also doing it as we type.
Blame Obama first, second and last. It's all part of the plan.

Which is the main reason for race baiting, imho.

Some of the blame and all of it. I find your question disingenuous at best.

7. Yeah, but DU didn't come up with that video, get idiots screaming
to their congresspeople, and get her fired.

Fox did.

That is the difference.

Now they're trying to shift the blame away from themselves, Breitbart, and whichever scumbag edited that tape.

I hope the administration is learning a very hard lesson from this. They need to.

They need to stop blustering now and reinstate her.

Then she needs to sue, and I don't mean sue Obama.

11. Damn straight. . .
The White House deserves every castigation it receives for their shameful pusillanimity. Most of it should come from the left but if the right piles on -- even if they are the ones who instigated the sordid affair -- so much the worse for Obama and his hapless band of dunderheads. Maybe shame and humiliation will cause them to think twice next time. Neither intelligence nor any sense of loyalty helped this week.

19. Exactly! And if I had set up the admin and his admin had fallen for it with
as much gusto as Obama's did, then I'd castigate the hell out of him as well. He stupidly continues his wimpy over-reactions to FNC and republicans in general.

8. It is the double Santa Claus. If Sherrod had not been fired, they would
be running, running, running with the "Obama is a Racist" meme. The Administration acted, so now they are running with the "Obama screwed Sherrod" meme. They have an anti-Obama story no matter what the outcome, and CNN won't call them on it. Only MSNBC, which is not on many cable line-ups or satellites, will call out Rupert "Beck is right, Obama is a racist" Roo.

10. Off-topic: I can't believe I never thought of escaping the quotation marks in the
subject line of DU posts. I do however use the single quote ' because it doesn't cause the thread titile to be vacant in the My DU list like the quote marks do. I have often wondered why DU's admins haven't worked that out in the coding but didn't think it was worth bothering them with as I'm sure they have their hands full as it is.

Unless you're really pushing the character limit.

12. they're AMAZING, aren't they? it's because they live in a total bubble that's customizable
at the drop of a hat: that's why their "wedge issues" are so fervently--yet shallowly--held, and why they can be proud of being uninformed

this works on conservatives regardless of party (e.g., anyone saying "Poor Vilsack/WH, they're being picked on by Fox"...)

Edited on Wed Jul-21-10 04:02 PM by Edweird
They took the word of a known political enemy without the first hint of any kind of investigation. The WH screwed the pooch. They have no one to blame but themselves. It is not appropriate for the WH to jump whenever some 2bit hack prints something controversial.

Edited on Wed Jul-21-10 04:20 PM by Edweird
Their allegations deserve a "yeah, whatever" at most. Any concerns could have been easily cleared up - as evidenced by the WH's mea culpa. Instead, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. got punked by some hack RW blogger and a good woman's reputation was sullied. The WH is solely at fault for giving any weight or merit to this nonsense. They, of all people, knew or should have known the truth. Instead they demanded her resignation in the most cowardly and sleazy way possible for the weakest of possible reasons.

(link)
She showed a Fox guy actually asking, "Did the White House railroad Sherrod?" No--YOU fucking did by DELIBERATELY not getting all sides of the story!

As they said in the movie "All About Eve," that wins the prize for running, jumping, and standing gall!

22. Of course they are...
...it's the very definition of slime. They smeared, they got caught, they deflect by pointing out the weakness in their opponent.

They are adept at this game: always play offense. When the facts change (i.e. their original assertions are shown to be untrue), find a way to continue playing offense. Adjust the facts a bit, adjust your narrative to fit. They do it instinctively. We need to learn some of it -- but only in service of the truth, never as part of a pack of lies.

27. CNN is playing her entire speech.
In it, she talks about how the divide is not between black and white, but rich and poor ... and that the GOP does its best to DIVIDE the races.

Which is EXACTLY what Fox has been doing.

Her full speech is, unintentionally, an indictment of Fox, who uses race to divide people.
