People who think the unemployed are just lazy and don't want to work, I wonder if
they actually KNOW anything about unemployment. I mean, how much it pays. I know it varies according to the state you're in and how much you were making. But it usually tops off at an amount that's fairly low, and if the person was making anything before losing her job, it's going to be a lot less than her salary.

I wonder if some of these people who think the unemployed are just lazy are such dumbasses so uninformed that they think that unemployment pays EXACTLY what you used to be paid.

1. I have heard republicans talk about how they gamed unemployment
so when they start accusing others, they are doing so assuming everyone is as lacking in morals as they are.

"doing so assuming everyone is as lacking in morals as they are"

They assume you would act similar to them in a given situation, so they lambast you or I for whatever it is they themselves are doing.

4. I have heard republicans brag about cheating on their taxes
and then in the next breath whine about how the poor are sucking the country dry with welfare and food stamps.

3. Good point.
I do believe it really only works as a sound bite on FAUX news though ... here in Texas the max you can collect is about $300 a week.

You've got to remember though that at least 1/2 this country makes under $35K a year, and rent in Peoria is a lot less than NYC or San Fran. That's not saying anyone can live on $300 a week, but I think the upper middle class in general would be surprised at just how little a lot of people are forced to survive on. The GOP uses that to turn folks against each other. That's the whole game for them - pitting working folks against each other so they don't focus and join together (because then we actually have enough numbers to challenge them).
