I'm having a hard time scraping up any pity for Dick Cheney tonight
I just got off the phone with a dear friend of mine who has been diagnosed with Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome, a heart condition that has pretty much made her a prisoner in her own home.

There is a procedure that can fix this but it would have to be done at the OSU Hospital in Columbus and it would also cost her $4,000. My friend doesn't have $4,000 so she has made an appointment to discuss any alternative treatments to the life-saving procedure she really needs. She really can't do anything except sit in her chair and take her meds because her condition is pretty bad right now.

Y'know, it makes me SICK to think of that blob of evil Darth Cheney up there in his Jackson SnakeHole compound getting the best medical treatment for that rotten heart his ill-gotten gains can buy, while he decries access to medical treatment for millions of people like my friend. Getting life-saving medical treatment should never come down to who has the most coin. Cheney probably blows $4,000 over lunch with his Halliburton pals.

So you'll have to pardon me if I'm not feeling a lot of pity for Mr. Cheney tonight. At least he can afford the best doctors, best medicines and treatments his rotten money can buy. There are millions of Americans tonight who are suffering and even dying because they cannot afford operations or even medicines.

I feel no pity for Cheney and never will. I am sorry however to hear about your friend and so many others who suffer simply because they don't have the money or health insurance they need.

11. Thank you, mokawanis
This has truly become, more and more, the country of the haves and have-nots, and there are a helluva lot more of us in the latter. I can only imagine Dick Cheney in his counting-house in this scene from Dickens:

``If they would rather die,'' said Scrooge, ``they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

And I'm sure that's exactly what Mr. Cheney thinks about the rest of us, too.

7. I'm with you.
I thought to myself about how many other people, who need life saving procedures, won't get them because this worm is able to get the best health care in the country on the taxpayer's dime. He won't suffer even in the end.

8. You are not alone in the least.
BTW, Rachel reported that he is in N Virginia, not Montana.

I know too many who aren't getting the care they need - and many of these who aren't dealing with private unemployment are vets of Iran/Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the Cheney family will see NO estate taxes in 2010 should Lord Satan call his minion home during 2010.

Karma kicks in any day now, or one can hope.

9. Can she get to New Jersey?
http://www.deborah.org/

Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, NJ will treat people who can't afford it. Patients who can't pay are sponsored by their network of fund-raising chapters.

It's an excellent hospital. She should check it out.

If she can't make the trip out here, she should talk to the people at OSU about payment plans. That's not a huge amount and I'm pretty sure they'd work with her.

13. The money is expected up-front.
And right now she can barely afford medicines, much less add even a modest payment plan for an operation. I'm afraid she is too sick to make a trip to NJ. But thanks for your kindness, uberblonde.

10. All I have to do is think about children in Iraq with missing limbs and relatives....
...parents who lost their children. Media who were out-right killed. Hundreds of thousands dead. Peoples lives lost. Futures destroyed. A rich civilization utterly humiliated for some neo-con game.

No, there will be no tears from me when he departs.

I doubt it will cost him 1 cent. This cost will go to the Tax Payers. If he was smart he would Die this year to save some money on inheritance Tax . Like George Steinbrenner. called out at home base driving in 3 runs.

22. You are, of course, right.
Not a nickel will find its way out of Cheney's pocket. All of his medical treatments and hospital bills will be paid for courtesy of the U. S. taxpayers. Only the poor must pay or die.

20. I'm sorry about Dick Cheney
Edited on Thu Jul-15-10 12:00 AM by kenny blankenship
I'm sorry his fate won't be decided by a jury composed of Iraqi and Afghan parents whose children died as a result of his evil, and carried out by orphans from those two countries whose parents he killed. I'm sorry he won't ever face a warcrimes tribunal. I'm sorry he gets to keep his secrets from the waterboard. I'm sorry the hangman will be cheated. I'm sorry the family members of dead US service personnel will never even get a chance to face him and ask him why? I'm sorry his estate will pass on to his viperous brood all the money he made from Haliburton instead of having to surrender it as part of a judgment against that company for massive fraud in defense contracts in the Iraq War he started. I'm sorry that Dick Cheney is an American citizen, and I'm an American too; I think I can guess what Germans born during WWII feel like. I'm ashamed and sorry about Dick Cheney.

26. And this is why we need single payer
a story from my brother when he was a doc in Canada... (why he moved to Cleveland are some of the systemic issues)

Suffice it to say one fine night at the ER on bed one was the Prime Minister of the Country, and on bed two was a very poor person. Neither got better or worst care...

And that is why we need such a system. I know a gal can dream... but with such a system the care chenney is getting would not be an issue.

his friend had to apologize for shooting him in the face. Not.

I am so sorry about your friend, HP. Sending good vibes her way.

My friends say I would take Manson to lunch, they tease and call me "Sister Teresa"; yet I can't find one iota of empathy for Cheney, weird. Makes me feel almost ashamed.

I pray for the Dick to reap what he has sown, receive what he has earned. Is that too much to hope for I wonder...

29. I heard on the Maddow show that he no longer has a pulse.
The machine is doing the work of his heart. So I conclude he is a heartless bastard like he always was.

I will not be sorry when he goes. I hope he has the good sense to die this year so Liz won't have to pay any death tax. (I got that one from the repubs last night)
