A column i found about the LeBron mess that I thought some might be interested in...
The following column is a letter I sent to ESPN’s Chris Broussard in response to a piece he wrote blasting Dan Gilbert and supporting LeBron. Several other national columnists, including Bill Rhoden of the New York Times, have written similar pieces.

Chris,

I was surprised and dismayed by your recent acerbic column about Dan Gilbert and his explosive comments concerning LeBron James' departure. Certainly he left himself wide open to easy criticism and low-hanging-fruit ridicule by LeBron apologists who have eagerly seized on his words to divert attention from the truly disgusting behavior of James which prompted Gilbert’s reaction.

1. I think Durstin hit on something very valuable and basic.
He very eloquently spoke of the self-serving dramatics of LeBron and the sense of betrayal that his fans felt.

I think he made an excellent point about Gilbert's reaction diffusing what could have been a very regrettable situation in Cleveland.

Thanks for posting this. I think it is one of the few articles about this whole charade that was worth reading.

4. Of course, the irony of ironies is that ESPN is blind to seeing their own enabling role
They have been pulling this shit for years...

5. I thought Gilbert was way over the top in his comments
But that being said I think he was just channeling the anger and frustration Cleveland fans felt. Should he have said it: no, but I understand where he was coming from and Cavs fans too. I've never been on "The King's" bandwagon and referring to himself in the 3rd person on the decision at least 5 times reveals quite a bit about him. That and the fact he HAD an hour long show to announce it, like it was a matter of world importance. Sorry Cav fans.
