I am grossly paraphrasing. Albert Snyder is the father of a dead Marine who saw the funeral crashed by this band of shitbirds. The case is on its way to the Supremes. The consensus among the 48 attorneys general is that a funeral is sacred and deserves protection.

I hope Phelps have their urethras surgically closed and they be made to drink cheap beer until they explode. There is probably no clan of more despicable people to have ever walked the earth.

(Story reported on our local nooz since the "protest" by these fucksticks was very near here.)

1. SCOTUS has agreed to hear the Snyder case?
Excellent news! I had been following it, but apparently lost touch.

Thanks for the update! :toast:

3. I've said this before on this board re: the Phelps clan....
so I'll say it again.

If there ever was a group that needed an old fashioned tar and feathering, this would be it.

The good people of Topeka and Kansans in general should whip up some old time frontier justice and tar and feather the principal members of this goofy-assed church.

Spare the kids under 18, but everyone else that is a member of that church and thinks Fred has the right attitude should do what they used to do to people who made a complete nuisance of themselves.

HOT tar - hot enough to scald and pin feathers used liberally, then literally run them out of town. It would take days and days to get that shit cleaned off and the reason it was effective is because everyone who saw someone in such a state knew they must have fucked up big time and were shunned.

Let them go live in the wilds of central Utah or Nevada, miles from anyone else and nowhere near an airport, give them a well and some seed and tell them to fuck off.

5. They should argue it on the grounds of freedom of religion. They
violate our rights by forcing theirs on us. I am a Christian but I do not like the door knockers or people like Phelps and the Mormons. I have a right in this country to choose my own lifestyle ideas.

14. The First Amendment protects you from the Government
The Government can't force you to follow any certain religion or keep you from practicing yours. It doesn't protect you from living in a country full of religious nuts.

15. Well I cannot say I am happy to hear that - too bad since that idea
pretty much came out of the religious wars in Europe for all those years. It was the government there though that tried to tell people which religion they could be.

6. Where the fuck is the IRS?
That "church" has been a TAX DODGE for years, the membership pretty much restricted to the extended family of that old bastard.

I suggest they start there. GUILT the damned IRS into doing its job.

8. There Comes a Time
When you have to stop paying lawyers and just beat the ever-loving shit out of someone.

It's better for the constitution (pun intended).

9. If they are disruptive, there are already laws against that.
If they are trespassing, there are laws against that. If they are threatening violence, there are laws against that. If we are just pissed off because of the ghastly things they say, well, there isn't a law against that. Quite the contrary. Curbing free speech near events someone deems "sacred"? I can find you some wing nuts that would tell you that every speech W ever gave was "sacred".

13. If they are stopped, anybody can be stopped.
Westboro baptist church is protected by the 1st amendment. If the 1st amendment can't protect the worst of speech, than it is worthless. I know protesting a funeral is dispicable, but all speech must be allowed, as long as they were on public property. I know I may be in the minority, but I think the supreme court should rule in favor of the Phelps cult. Just as nazis have a right to march in a Jewish town, the Phelps have a right to picket funerals.
