BREAKING: New charges brought against Cunningham case bigwigs Brent Wilkes and Kyle "Dusty" Foggo.
New charges filed against former top CIA official, contractor

By ALLISON HOFFMAN05/11/07 16:01:19

New charges have been filed alleging that the CIA's former No. 3 official used his influence in that role to support a proposed $100 million government contract for his best friend, a defense contractor, in return for lavish vacations, private jet flights and a lucrative job offer.

The indictment, returned Thursday by a federal grand jury in San Diego, supersedes charges brought in February against career CIA man Kyle "Dusty" Foggo and Poway-based contractor Brent Wilkes. The charges grew from the bribery scandal that landed former U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham in prison.

Foggo resigned from the spy agency a year ago, after his house and office were raided by federal agents. He is the highest-ranking CIA officer to be charged with crimes allegedly committed while working for the agency.

The pair now face 30 wide-ranging counts of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.

1. That train had already left the station by the
time they got Lam....seems too many people - like grand jurors- may know too much.
This won't be pretty for the boys over in DOD or the CIA. YES !

5. New charges means new evidence.
New evidence means prosecutor rummaging through records and presenting them, or calling witnesses.

New charges over 5 months after Lam was chucked means the investigation continued: There's no requirement for unknown evidence to be presented to a grand jury that could have been dismissed, and for the prosecutor to ask for additional indictments.

24. A continued investigation means our efforts in keeping this in the open have succeeded!

Though it's still too early to massively celebrate anything just yet. I think we should all pat each other on the back (us here at DU, Josh Marshall and the folks at TPM Muckraker, Onell Soto and Kelly Thornton of the Union Tribune, and many others) that helped this story get a life in the mainstream media now and get the fires roasting under Karl Rove and Gonzales' rear ends along with many others that deserve to be roasted so much.

Had this pressure not been brought to bear, this investigation would have been completely squashed and many big offenses of this administration would still continue to be covered up!

Still have a lot of work to do and pressure to apply to not let this effort stop now! A lot still to be done yet!

28. Many cold cases, including murder, are being pursued now-it is those "breadcrumbs"
that led directly into the WH that is still occupied by this installed gang of gangs.

Politicized criminals that have attempted to privatize everything to their criminal corporations to control the world very closely following the PNAC model.

25. I'd like to see them caught at the airport trying to escape. Filmed for the evening news
Ducking their heads, hiding their faces. Showing them for the criminal cowards they are.

11. Well well well
This is very exciting. I am hoping that there is this kind of action everywhere there's the suspicion of White House interference... I'm hoping that there's a big bunch of ticked off prosecutors.. coast to coast.

15. Ah yes, the US Attorney's Office in San Diego WAS investigating this
then some folks got "terminated" figuratively and perhaps literally by the shadow government.

Fwiw, I offer this post from a Fridays Child parent thread that is proving valuable today and is linked to this good news.

Anyone able to start an Encyclopedia of Crime 43 documenting revelations, announcements, suspicions, quotes, links, players, statuses of Pres Cheney and his sometimes lost marionette?

So maybe their attempt to derail this by firing Carol Lam didn't work out after all.

27. Ah yes, money laundering news from LBN-Swiss officials are investigating BAE,
and in Israel the privatization of Bank Leumi is being challenged by Holocaust survivors and heirs that are still waiting for their reparations.

Meanwhile the BFEE is privatizing everything with what they have stolen from everyone that isn't loyal to the "money trumps peace" culture of death.

30. Seems like Rove didn't get the Purge complete.
He tried to get rid of any Attorney that was doing their job the way they were supposed to be doing it. It is obvious that Congress has to set a date for the Rove Subpoena and arrest him if he does not comply.
