John McCain Has Now Crossed Entire Political Spectrum on Immigration

.... Now we have this:

(QUOTE: ) "Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Tuesday he would favor immigration reform that would deport many of the residents of the United States who are here illegally.

McCain, who at one point had been the top Republican advocate for immigration legislation promising a pathway to citizenship for some illegal immigrants, said he favored establishing a guest worker program. But McCain expressed opposition to any program that would give illegal immigrants a way to become citizens.

"No amnesty. Many of them need to be sent back," McCain said during an interview on KQTH-FM in Tucson, Ariz. ( :UNQUOTE)

Well, when the Senator (probably) wins his illustrious fifth term this November, he can coordinate this mass arrest process, how about that? He'll put in a budget request for "10,000,000 nets, like for capturing butterfies, eh? eh?" before realizing that his primary is over and he can stop caring about this for another five years.

1. They had their chance to "reform" immigrant policy
8 year's worth, 5 of which were under a GOP majority in Congress.

Just another wedge issue, like abortion and DADT. If they actually DID anything while in power, they'd have NOTHING left to campaign on.

9. The right 'reformed' immigration under Reagan, with amnesty.
Why the Democrats now seem hellbent on re-perpetrating this foolishness is beyond me.

3. I don't understand why the congress hasn't attacted the insanity
involved in gaining legitimate citizenship? There's no way it should ake 10+ years! I don't know much about the process, but from everything I'veread, either our laws are just plain NUTS, or the immigration & naturalization departent is insanely under staffed, OR BOTH!

I sympathize with so many people who believe, rightly r wrongly, that there are way too many people in the US illegally. But I've also read how insane the process is. It amazes me that ANYONE ever gets citizenship!

All the polls say that the majority, by far, believe people who are here illegally should be deported, but I bet if they really knew how many hoops these people have to jump through, maybe they wouldn't be so against reform.

5. he's just saying that now because he hopes to get re-elected.....
...and he knows many republicans were against his immigration policy before. That's ok, he'll change his position again when and if he gets re-elected......

6. He's probably most shocked that anyone remembers what he says
After all, he doesn't listen to anything he says moment-to-moment; why would anyone else? Whatever falls out of his mouth at any particular second represents his deepest, most fervently-held belief for that moment. New moment? New convictions. It's really quite simple, always followed by that ghoulish grin.
