DU's great that way. It doesn't matter how many recs/unrecs a post gets. As long as people are reading and replying, it will continue to be read.

That's why I pay no attention whatever to the recommendation counts.

Do you really think they are off the mark?

What a ridiculous assertion. You are claiming that McCain would have tried HCR, would not have kept the war in Iraq going and attacked Iran, that there was no chance he would die in office and that word salad idiot be our President.

Are you seriously claiming Palin or McCain would do the same things as Obama? What are you smoking?

We would have the government attempting to make us work until we are seventy in order to get Social Security? With continual threats to us that we the middle class need to be on an austerity program.

We would have a lame and pathetic response from the Oval Office were there to be any emergencies (such as a catastrophic Oil Spill in an ocean off our shores.) Whatever Oil Company screwed up would be left in charge of the Cleanup, with Homeland Security hassling any members of the press who get too close to the "Cleanup" efforts.

We would continue to be fighting two separate and unending wars for profit, with devious and mercenary firms like Blackwater and DynCorp charging such fees as one hundred bucks per load of GI laundry, while the military families at home live on food stamps.

Wall Street and Big Pharma would be the beneficiaries of many "back room" agreements. The jobless rate would be 20% in all areas of the nation where there are not big defense contract jobs. And the unemployment insurance normally relied on while the economy is bad would be threatened by officials in Washington DC.

On the plus side, were Palin in office while all of happened, people might be taking to the streets.

Oh, well...

sat·ire (str)
n.
1.
a. A literary work in which human vice or folly is attacked through irony, derision, or wit.
b. The branch of literature constituting such works. See Synonyms at caricature.
2. Irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose folly, vice, or stupidity.

Latin satira, probably alteration (influenced by Greek satur, satyr, and saturos, burlesque of a mythical episode) of (lanx) satura, fruit (plate) mixture, from feminine of satur, sated, well-fitted; see s- in Indo-European roots.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/satire

It's ironic that people can't see the difference between the Obama administration and the administration that would have been McCain/Palin.

I'm just as sarcastic as I can be in suggesting a possible, exaggerated chain of events.

My wit is often caustic. It was intended to be caustic in this post.

68. Of course not...
After the State of Emergency, the only "news" came from the Ministry of Propaganda (contracted out to Faux News, of course, with sub-sourcing to news organs of the Patriot Militias). All other news organizations were banned, their offices raided and closed, their personnel sentenced to re-education camps or 'disappeared'.

Also, note that McCain is still breathing in our own universe.

I find it interesting that in this alternate universe, people actually protest for their rights, instead of waiting patiently for a leader to one day start delivering for them, once details have been worked out to the Republicans' satisfaction.
