Aspirin 'prevents bowel cancer'

Taking aspirin each day can prevent bowel cancer developing, a study says.

Oxford University researchers said taking a dose of 300mg a day for five years offered the protection.

Long-term aspirin use is generally not backed because of the risk of stomach problems, but the team said it could benefit those at high-risk of cancer.

Cancer campaigners welcomed the study - published in the Lancet - which examined data from previous research covering more than 7,500 people.

4. My mom was recently hospitalized for bleeding

from taking 81 mg aspirin per day. She lost so much blood that it stressed her heart and she had to have two pints replaced.

She is fine now, though. Her stomach healed quickly of the three lacerations and her heart wasn't damaged. But one should take care using aspirin.

And, if tiny bleeding has begun, avoiding eating raw pineapple at all costs.
