Question: Any proposed hearings on the melamine and diethyl glycol scandals?
This would be a golden opportunity to shine the public light on Bush's FDA and USDA corruption, as well as further alert the general public to the dangers of importing Chinese-made food products.

1. What would be the point?
The crooks in China cleaned house and closed up shop. By the time the FDA had cut through Chinese red tape and inspected, nothing was left.

The business will reopen under a new name and in a new building, count on it.

Congress will not pass an embargo against grain based protein additives from China. Too many GOPs.

2. Congress just might pass an embargo...if enough of the public become sufficiently outraged
The average American needs to become aware of this garbage, and how "free trade" with China is undermining the U.S. Televised hearings on the additives issue would definitely go a long way to informing the general public.

3. Nope, Kraft/ConAgra/ADM/Atria/ et al would cut off campaign cash
we might as well face it..we are guinea pigs in a gigantic science experiment.. (funny, eh..coming from so many who profess their hatred of science)

we are all expendable, and any diseases we may end up with , will be deemed "our own fault", and will only be helpful to extract even higher health insurance premiums from us, and will further enrich the pharma/med community from sucking up every dollar we have..so we can treat those diseases..

it's a bizarro merry-go-round..and there's no getting off

5. There is a way to get off this crazy thing (to paraphrase George Jetson)
Public hearings, relentless exposure, more coverage.

The more people become aware of the issue, the more politicians will be forced to buckle under. If there's enough public anger, politicians on both sides won't have much choice.

I don't the idea of simply throwing one's hands in the air, and saying, "We'll just have to live with it; there's nothing we can do!"

7. I agree wholeheartedly, but you won't be seeing networks
climbing over each other to air those events..congress/senate might give it a cursory look, but that's about it..

newspapers are not going to "offend" potential advertisers..

It's all about the $$$$$

Newspapers/radio/tv/magazines.. are all advertiser-driven mediums..

and our congress/senate reps are $$vacuums..the huge food processing companies dole out tons o cash

We have a giant conflict of interest issue here, and it will take a miracle to finally get to the bottom of it all
