| Hey look what was posted in freeperland In a thread about aborting gay babies |
|
Edited on Wed Jun-30-10 03:38 PM by Clintonista2
In a thread about medical technology that can determine whether babies are born gay:
"I personally am convinced that for most people, sexual orientation is congenitally determined. As medical technology advances, more and more pre-birth modifications will be possible.
I will love my children no matter what sexual orientation they turn out to have. But if I could save them from a lifetime of ostracism by a procedure that would make them heterosexual instead of homosexual, I would probably do it, just as I would correct any other naturally-occurring birth defect."

| 1. They view it as a choice |

until it becomes expedient for them to view it as an inborn trait.
Cognitive motherfucking dissonance indeed.

| 2. I've heard of studies suggesting conservatives have some different brain |
|
Edited on Wed Jun-30-10 03:44 PM by RKP5637
functions than liberals. I would like to see conservatives brains modified as a birth defect. One study in point: http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2007/09/20/libera... /

| 3. So, babies choose their own "birth defects" now? |
|
Because we all know being gay is a choice, right?
Who knew?
Just when you think they couldn't possibly get any more crass, or stupid, they surprise us!

Sort of a top trumps between abortion and homosexuality.

|

| 15. Interesting, not least because it shows that a Republican's main fear seems to be |
|
being different from the mainstream. He or she would love their baby, but would alter their baby just to avoid that baby being different. That is sad, but fascinating.
And of course there is the philosophical issue of whether you really love your baby if you want to change something so fundamental within him or her so that they are really a different person afterwards. They seem more to love the idea of a baby who is just like their vision of normal, rather than the actual person the baby is.
Oh yeah, and then there's the question of God--why do they want to change the way God made their baby? Are they claiming God makes mistakes, or just that they know better than God what the baby should be like? (I don't believe in God, but their arguments always seem to center around a god of some form or other).
How did this post get received over there? I'm guessing not well.

That's actually heartening, coming from FR.
on edit-- Oh, EarlG pointed out that it was from DU, not FR. That's a DU FAIL! for sure, and the poster got a granite pizza.
