Using the oil crisis for union-busting.....how low is that?? Giving the Freeper link to show how the Faux News viewers for the most part believe hook line and sinker that "the Marxist Muslin" is keeping out all the foreign help by invoking the Jones act when in fact it has not been applicable at all....

4. Yeah, right, and built with steel from where?
Do we even produce steel in this country any more? They would have to import the steel, and other components to first build American made ships, thus delaying the cleanup even more. Brilliant I tell ya! (about as brilliant as a cave in the dead of night!)

5. The U.S. Economy Needs The Jones Act
Edited on Wed Jun-30-10 01:35 PM by no_hypocrisy

There is no evidence that the Jones Act has interfered with the cleanup, as The Post editorial acknowledged. Administration officials have clearly stated they would be willing to waive the Jones Act if needed and that the law had not prevented the response team from accepting aid offers.

The law is necessary to prevent our economy from being dominated and controlled by foreign shipping interests. A domestic maritime industry also provides a significant source of employment that is important to maintaining a cadre of well-trained, loyal American merchant mariners ready and able to respond in a time of war or other emergency. A privately owned, U.S.-flagged fleet is vital to our economic, military and international political security.

7. And the people of Hawaii and Alaska suffer
Well, I guess the sacrfice is worth it. The next time I talk to my family still living in Hawaii, I'll be sure to let them know that they are suffering for a worthy cause.
