Dear Gulf Coasters,
BP Executives just want to reassure y'all and to tell you that "it's nothing personal". We have no animus toward you people..even the "small people". We actually think you "Got LOTS of reasons to live". Foremost among those reasons, is the fact that we appreciate how you buy our products, watch our gauzy uplifting infomercials, and did I mention, how you buy our products?
We also appreciate how cleverly you walk atop that fence. You know the fence I mean..the one that divides the desire/need to work with toxic oil & gas (we're sorry about that part, but hey..somebody's gotta drill for that stuff people are addicted to) at the same time pick food out of the same source..the Gulf.
The tourism & food industries have taken a bit of a hit from this tragic accident (we're still "investigating" what happened, & we'll get back to you on that..maybe by 2030..hang in there

..), but rest assured, that most of the food from the Gulf is probably ok, and we are confident that a resilient population will seek it out , sell it & eat it just like before.
The scare-dy-cat tourists will be back too..just wait..you'll see. Maybe a whole new form of tourism will evolve from this. There are do-gooders all over who may come down just to see the wonder that is the clean-up..and maybe they'll work for free too.
We at BP also appreciate how loyal you are to your oil-loving politicians. You have no idea how helpful it is for us to have people who know what we need, and then step up and make sure that we get it. Many places on the planet are such fuss-budgets, and insist that we waste valuable assets on all kinds of redundant "safety" measures, when most of the time they are totally unnecessary.
We appreciate also how y'all love to roll the dice. Being in the direct line of yearly hurricanes must have toughened y'all up & prepped you for the wonderful world of oil exploration just off your coasts. Deep down you had to know that someday, something could happen, but you put that aside and said "Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez".
We actually have a lot in common on that one. We gamble all the time too. So sorry about the snake-eyes , so close behind the bad hand Mother Nature dealt you in 2005..but that's the way gambling works ....sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It's nothing personal.
