All those "SPIES AMONG US" stories taking up time and space on the media...wow ..no time or room for oil gushers, or immigration issues, WARS!! Dead and dying soldiers and civilians...all take a back seat to SPIES FROM RUSSIA!!!
WHAT A CROCK OF CRAPOLA THIS ENTIRE 'SPY' STORY IS!!
It is nothing more than a ridiculous distraction from issues that should REALLY bother us and take up our time and emotional energy.
Where the hell did all this come from? Why is this administration allowing this bull**** to tie up resources that could be put to better use in at least a million different areas? How much money ..TAX MONEY has been spent on this asinine adventure?
I cannot believe that this is for real..and not some sort of parody of a 1950's movie with Peter Sellers, Roddy McDowell and Tuesday Weld!!!

It should be reported, but not dwelt upon ad nauseum. There are far more important stories that are simply ignored by the media in favor of sensational, but unimportant stuff. The real problem with the spy story is that while compelling, it is completely managed by the government and law enforcement and is ultimately less important than news from the wars (at home and abroad), America's dysfunctional government, corporate greed and irresponsibility, etc.
Please understand-- I'm not saying that the spy story shouldn't be reported-- just that it shouldn't be made into the center ring of the media circus because it simply isn't that important.

importance than pure information, this will not change.
I long ago tired of constant coverage of news stories about dead naked white blonds. Some years back, a black girl in San Diego was killed and, many believed, her body dumped. A young white girl who died in Florida had more reporting, more time in the news, more inches in the paper in San Diego than a local girl black girl. The story never broke nationally.
I recognized at the time that sensationalistic stories sell. Since then, I try to be careful and refer to the "news" as "the Media." Today, "News" is entertainment, and if it bleeds it leads. This is not just the fault of "the Media" because they pay careful attention to which segments of their programs have the most viewer interest. They love modern cable because they can know exactly who watches what and when. They know that a story that titillates prurient interest will receive higher ratings. Individual Media know their audience and report to that audience, not to people w ho might really want to know what is happening. Unless Americans have a marked change in their viewing habits this will not change.
As a side note. I was out of town last week. In U.S.A. today, delivered to my hotel, Monday through Friday, there was only one story on the BP asphalt volcano. Just one.

I don't see any evidence of that. The only evidence I see is that the media, needed new sexy stories to keep readers salivating so they can maintain the bottom line on profits have chased a sexy new story. I mean, really, all those Bonds and Bondesses.
Sometimes it isn't a distraction.
Sometimes it is just profit.

I'd say the M$M passes for nothing more today then an echochamber for entertainment. If you want real news you have to read Rolling Stone or go to the Internets.

even if only for a day or two. Some, like Aldrich Ames, have been much bigger stories.
I even saw the opinion expressed elsewhere that the Gulf spill, McChrystal resignation, and other stories have prevented this from being a bigger story than it is.
