Scarborough: ‘Every Republican I Talk To On The Hill’ Tells Me John Boehner ‘Is Not A Hard Worker"

MSNBC’s Scarborough: ‘Every Republican I Talk To On The Hill’ Tells Me John Boehner ‘Is Not A Hard Worker’

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough made a damning accusation against House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH), with whom he used to work in the House of Representatives. Scarborough said that the rap on Boehner amongst people who know him best is that he’s lazy:

SCARBOROUGH: I hear it on the Hill, I’m sure you hear it on the Hill all the time, it’s not reported but so many Republicans tell me this is a guy that is not the hardest worker in the world. After 5 o’clock, 6 o’clock at night, he is disengaged at best. You can see him around town. He does not have, let’s say, the work hours of Newt Gingrich. … Every Republican I talk to says John Boehner by 5 or 6 o’clock at night, you can see him at bars. He is not a hard worker.

Politico’s co-founder and executive director Jim VandeHei, doing his best to defend Boehner from Scarborough’s accusations, first tried to dodge the discussion but then said, “Well, a lot of those bars are fundraisers for Republicans, his people might say.”

Scarborough retorted that his accusation about Boehner’s work ethic “comes from every Republican I talk to on the Hill.” VandeHei, again defending Boehner, said that’s “not the biggest knock” on him and added that he didn’t know if John Boehner is a hard worker.

giving an interview to the Pittsburgh press (I think) he looked hung over and in pain ...I laughed at that...he's a drunk...

6. That skin doesn't tan itself. And what about the entire GOP Senate and House
during the Bush years? They came in late on Mondays, left early on Thursday, and took Friday off. I'd complain more but, it is probably better if they all stopped showing up.

39. Ayup. Only real drunks drink before noon.
My brother had a restaurant with a lounge that opened at 10:30 for the lunch trade, and there were always a few regular car or insurance sales-types that would be there every day for two or three hours, drinking their lunch...but they never set foot inside before noon.

Sometimes they would wander back to the office before closing, sometimes they would close the bar at 0230.

Boner reminds me of some of those country club, private golf-course, three martini guys you'd see there every day promptly at lunchtime getting hammered.

9. My suspicions were that the fake tan was to cover up the
effects of boozing on his skin, all those little broken capillaries that give drinkers a red nose and other splotches.

13. What caught my attention was his refusal to run for President
And what he said about it:

The GOP leader said he wanted to preserve what little bit of a normal life that he has.

"Listen, I don't have much of a life, but I have a little. And that little bit of life I have — I like to cut my own grass, wash and iron my own shirts, drink some red wine, smoke a few cigarettes from time to time, play golf," he said. "And frankly, I'm not willing to give up that little bit of life that I have for some job I don't need."

I'm sure he is trying to project an "everyman" type image, but I thought Mormons did not drink or smoke tobacco?

35. OK, he's not - I wonder where I got that impression?
I've been thinking he was Mormon since sometime during the 2008 election.

But then all those weird superstitions tend to blend together in my mind. Mormon, Catholic, Scientologist, Southern Baptist, Druids, Satanists - it gets too confusing to keep track of.

saying that the poor and elderly need to 'suck it up' and sacrifice their livelyhood, because he is too lazy to help out with the economy.

Oh yeah...LOL@the Newt remark. PULZE, we all now know that Newt was spending all that time meeting new future Mrs. Newts!

Do ANY Repukes EVER work a real day in Congress? I'd bet not.

27. Does That Mean That Words Out In Repug Circles To Throw Boehner Under The Bus?.......
It will be interesting to see if anyone else in MSM and the Repug talking heads pick up on this comment by the Scar. Are they thinking if they take the majority in the House after the elections that they want a new majority leader and not Boehner? Who else would be vying for that job? Curious?

29. Article on Politico today that Cantor and Ryan are after his job. Guess Scarborough got the word!!
Those close to Cantor don’t deny his ambitions — but even they are uncertain of his next move. If Republicans take control of the House in November, the 47-year-old Cantor would become the youngest majority leader in more than 60 years. That would put him next in line to become speaker if and when Boehner leaves.
