" 'John Edwards's Daughter: Our Lives Were 'Savaged' "
Edited on Wed Jun-30-10 08:45 AM by denem
Why post this shit again?

A: Because that will be the front cover of next week's People Magazine. Cate Edwards wrote the featured article; Elizabeth contributed an interview captioned "Elizabeth Edwards Calls John's Behavior 'Terrible'".

Why?

Well, the Edwards' are promoting Elizabeth's book again.

"Its my story and Im writing it from here on out nobody else," Elizabeth says in the interview as the paperback edition of her bestselling book Resilience, is released.

The paperback includes a new chapter reflecting on the worst of the fallout from husband Johns infidelity and on their split at the end of last year."

But again why?

They don't need the money.

Tawdry, tasteless, self indulgent: Yes,

but why? Why drag her younger children through more sludge.

The word I am searching for is 'Palinesque'.

1. ... almost seems like she's making media fodder out of him ...
... as revenge. Sigh. I thought she was a bigger person than that. But I don't know that I wouldn't do just about everything in my power to completely ruin my husband if he pulled the same shit on me that John did to her.

3. Well, if Palin had incurable cancer...

and her pissant of a husband
dipped his wick in another woman's
hot oil treatment
and answered with arrogant lies
would we be equally impatient?

The end of a marriage is like dying...
and staying around to suffer
your own grief.
It is not about the money...
It is about getting over John...
and getting back.

But I wish she wouldn't go this route. It's her choice though.

7. A long time ago, I said something hurtful to a friend..
Edited on Wed Jun-30-10 08:47 AM by Not Me
I regretted it terribly not long afterward and apologized.
She accepted the apology and totally and unconditionally forgave me.

Since then I have tried to live up to the example that she gave me and I am a much better person for it.

8. Eh. I don't begrudge her the right to do it
Her husband who she supported turned out to be a lowlife scum. Perhaps her public discussion of the consequences of such affairs will deter just one man or woman from destroying families for sex.

9. Betrayal often leads
to hatred. If she were in the position of most Americans, she would be telling her friends and acquaintences what a shithead John was. Some folks would be interested; some would simply respect her need to vent; and others would find it uncomfortable. In this case, Elizabeth has a larger stage to speak from.

As a person who used to like the public image and political potential of both John and Elizabeth, and who was disappointed in John's lack of character, I'm neither surprised nor upset by this. As a person helping a sibling deal with cancer, I've listened to similar stories from one of those average Americans. It may strike others as unnecessary, but I respectfully disagree with that. It is certainly hurtful, and at times damaging to others. But it is necessary, in the sense of being part of a process that is the ultimate in hurtful and damaging.
