Understand This, Republicans Are Mean-Spirited, Cruel Assholes
They love the fact that people are unemployed. They do. They don't care one wit about deficits when it comes to tax breaks for the rich and corporations. They only care about deficits if the money goes to help people who are struggling.

No argument will work on them. They want people on their knees.

1. Republicans aren't Nazis.
I accept evolution. So, I don't say that Republicans are Nazis, I say that Republicans and Nazis share a common ancestor.

That's why, if I discover that the owner of a company I do bizz with is a pubbie, I find another to share my moola.

4. Some years ago when Mr P and I first moved out here to the woods...
a family welcomed us with some nice plants and offers to help with whatever we needed.

Over the years (14 to be exact), this family...and, in recent years, their teen aged children...have been there to help out.

Checking in on us when an ice storm knocked out power for three days...bringing groceries...

When Mr P had knee surgery, doing some grocery shopping...

and many other acts of kindness...without asking a thing in return.

They were the ONLY family who have done this, consistently, for 14 years.

They are...drum roll, please....

Republicans

And they've done all they have even though they know we don't share their political opinions.

Knowing this family as I do, I find your characterization of all Republicans as "mean-spirited, cruel assholes" to be pretty offensive.

12. Well that's just it...
the fact that it was a general statement.

I don't think I would have felt the same way if it had been worded something like "Some Republicans are mean-spirited cruel assholes..."

8. There might be some BUT
since a republican tends to be this way and add racist people don't see too many that have a conscience.

My sisters, who I would never ever ever have thought were racist have shown me that they don't care about the poor and the unemployed. All they care about is Rush Rush Rush and how wonderful he is and Fox how wonderful they are. They can't stand blacks and Hispanics. WE WERE NOT RAISED THAT WAY. MY PARENTS DID NOT HAVE A PREJUDICED BONE IN THEIR BODY.

They learned this because they got a little bit of money and thought they were above the rest. THIS WILL DO IT EVERY TIME.

15. Maybe in the case of your sisters, it's more a matter of
some sort of mental or emotional dysfunction, or illness.

I honestly believe that any extreme...to the left, or to the right...can be a manifestation of a mental dysfunction...

19. Holy cow that sounds exactly like my family
Total transformation from being centrist or apolitical to snarling smug neocon. Just middle class; not much "liquid" but McMansions and lots of the latest & greatest stuff. And it IS Rush et.al. stirring all that sentiment up.

I suspect the author meant "Republican Politicians". At least, that's what I mean when I say "Republicans Are Mean-Spirited, Cruel Assholes", and I'll stand by it.

16. But unless I misunderstand...
your whole argument is based on a "fact"...that fact being that Republicans don't give a shit about anybody because they're mean-spirited and cruel.

How can someone be kind to anybody if he's "mean-spirited and cruel"? Someone with those negative qualities wouldn't have the capacity, let alone the desire, to be kind to anyone

Granted, my neighbors aren't saints, but then again, neither am I.

Well, with a couple of minor exceptions...

And are you white? Do you think they would treat you the same if you were not? Are you a straight couple?

again by the use of debt, and by the creation of an economy in which jobs are scarce.
They do not comprehend that an economy that can provide work, and one that may even have a labor shortage, is one that is in good health.
We have only measured prosperity by the presence of wealth.
We should be measuring it by the presence of employment and frictional unemployment; in other words, the ability to get a job.
After that, the measure should focus not on the value of investments, but the value of wages and the spending ability of consumers.
Republican ideology feeds on two things:
1. fear of the other, and
2. the vilification of government support for society and economy.

20. you mean Republican politicians, right?
It's not fair to label all Republicans with such a broad brush. Some of them are good people who are fed-up with the politics as well, but don't switch parties for personal reasons, perhaps because it's a family tradition or out of loyalty to conservative values. I'm sure i'm going to see some snarky responses to this, but before you hit the reply button, ask yourself: is this extreme divisiveness really necessary?

24. No snarky responses from me.
I've lived in republican strongholds most of my life. My neighbors, my co-workers, and, yes, my friends have often been republicans.

We don't agree on policy. But they aren't the enemy.

Neo-conservatives, neo-liberals, and religions and corporations who have amassed too much power? They are the enemy, imo.

23. Sweeping generalization.
Since most of us know a Republican who is a decent person, the generalization is broken.

More specificity is needed for your statement to be true. Perhaps adding the word "politicians" to the sentence would make it closer to being true. But, even then...
