Reports: U.S. Ships Massing Off Iran Coast As Israel Prepares To Strike
Via Raw Story, some horrible news if true - since an Israeli attack on Iran means they're seen in the Middle East as our surrogate. The Associated Press is still trying to confirm:

As unconfirmed reports of an imminent Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities pick up steam in the Middle Eastern media, a US-based strategic intelligence company has released a chart showing US naval carriers massing near Iranian waters.

The chart, published by Stratfor and obtained by the Zero Hedge financial blog, shows that over the last few weeks a naval carrier -- the USS Harry S Truman -- has been positioned in the north Indian Ocean, not far from the Strait of Hormuz, which leads into the Persian Gulf. The carrier joins the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, which was already located in the area. The chart is dated June 23, 2010.

Reports of mass movements of Israeli and US naval warships have been circulating through the media for weeks. On June 19, the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz reported that 12 US and Israeli warships were seen moving through the Suez Canal from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea.

4. If this is true,
and it's a big 'if'...then my statement some weeks ago about Obama's dissing of Netanyahu was correct...that it was a distractor...eighth dimensional chess as it were.

We shall see...

5. In unrelated related events
Maybe this is why Turkey closed airspace to military aircraft. But like many things middle eastern related the sources are in it for their own.

Israel was training pilots in Turkey to launch the strike and was smuggling planes into Georgia using Turkish airspace, said a report in our sister publication Akhbar Al Khaleej

Nixon armed right wing Fundi Israel thereby burying peace-loving liberal Isreael --

the last time we saw peace being mentioned in Israel was PM Rabin and they killed him!

7. This is an example
of the citation of the citation of a report from "unconfirmed sources".

It seems to have started in Iran. Iranians have massed on the Northern border, ostensibly to counter Israeli and American troops in Azerbaijan, but it also seems that Iran has an internal problem with breakaway tribes that live in that region.

I think the Iranian government has been taking lessons from the Bush Administration.

14. OMG 3.8% of the US Naval Vessels
are located near Iran...it's a naval MASSING! That is worse case scenario, the article is poorly written and extremely light on facts, which would lead one to believe it is propaganda. Certainly "U.S. Ships Massing Off Iran Coast As Israel Prepares To Strike" fails to provide any factual massing of naval resources or intention to strike.

USS HARRY S. TRUMAN, At Sea - The Navy says the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, which departed Norfolk on May 21, entered the 5th Fleet area of responsibility Friday after completing a successful transit through the Suez Canal.

The Truman Carrier Strike Group (CSG) is relieving the Dwight D. Eisenhower CSG as part of a routine rotation of forces. The Eisenhower CSG left Norfolk on January 2.
