NEW ORLEANS - A popular Twitter spoof on BP's oil spill public relations has donated $10,000 raised through T-shirt sales to a nonprofit group that works for the conservation of the Gulf of Mexico.
Gulf Restoration Network official Aaron Viles said the unnamed person who has been tweeting as "BPGlobalPR" put the money into the organization's account Wednesday. Viles said the tweet creator has promised more to come if the T-shirts satirizing BP continue selling.
The man tweeting as "BPGlobalPR," who has declined to be named in media interviews, raised the money in two weeks from $25 T-shirts bearing a black BP logo and the black-smudged legend "bp cares".
