Poll question: Should we be Mobilizing and Developing new Comprehensive plans for Sustainable, Alternative Energy?
Edited on Sat Jun-19-10 05:10 PM by ShamelessHussy

Especially in the wake of the ongoing CATASTROPHE in the Gulf?

I say emphatically, YES!

Dennis Kucinich, Washington, Jun 17, 2010

...

“We should be preparing now for a worst case scenario. We should be mobilizing our nation now and developing new comprehensive plans for sustainable, alternative energy, for environmental protection, for public health, for preservation of species, for security, for rebuilding our economy and repairing commerce.

“We should be challenging our fellow citizens and ourselves to take part in charting a new course for our nation towards creating an America that has unlimited energy because it has unlimited vision, unclouded by greed or partisan advantage.”

2. The most critical thing that must be done. I'm astounded by any contrary thought
and it shouldn't have taken this spill but for plenty it's still not nearly clear enough.

What the fuck??? What the hell is the counter point? Magic? Shit, even if whatever magic was actually operative, why would we want to deal with wars, ever increasing costs, smog, devastated landscapes, illness, and all of the rest of the 24/7 365 real time events that the magic fixes right along with the climate change, oxygen depletion, and habitat destruction it was apparently cast for.

Bad ass spell.

Stupid just doesn't answer for malaise on this issue there has to be equal or more parts batshit insane in that calculation.

11. Hopefully this will be the tipping point on this critical issue
we need to keep this on the agenda, and if this crisis isn't big enough to get us there, then we are truly doomed.

5. Somebody said something about crises and not letting them pass without capitalizing on them
Edited on Sat Jun-19-10 06:23 PM by kenny blankenship
by moving relevant parts of your agenda in response to them.

I don't remember who except that he is a total fuckwad. But shouldn't we be hearing from him on this score? While the crisis atmosphere is still fresh and people are movable?

6. We should reorganize the entire way we live and how our economies run
Just because the fuel that drives the production/consumption train is "green" doesn't mean it won't go over a cliff

7. It would be a much more constructive use of time here than
some of the BS mudslinging that goes on here. Tried to start a thread like that last Friday and it sank fast.

9. I wonder what it takes to organizing a PAC?
Or maybe there all ready is one on this idea?

If there isn't, I bet we could put together some very effective spokespeople to carry this MSG forward, from the good and talented people on DU.

We could get creative, informed people to work on the messaging, and creative... use the Internet (youtube, facebook, etc) to spread the word, and once word gets out, have folks who could appear in the media, and before congress to articulate that message.

now that would be a great campaign to work on, pure grass roots, especially if we organized it all via DU!
