A man accused of killing his wife, two young children and mother-in-law in their suburban Boston home was captured by police Thursday, hours after he was charged with four counts of murder.

Thomas Mortimer IV, 43, was charged with killing Laura Stone Mortimer, a 41-year-old economist; her 4-year-old son, Thomas Mortimer V; her 2-year-old daughter, Charlotte Mortimer; and her 64-year-old mother, Ellen Stone. Thomas Mortimer IV, seen here in an undated Massachusetts driver's license photo released by the Middlesex district attorney's office, was charged Thursday with killing his wife, two children and mother-in-law.

How do you kill your own toddlers? Why didn't he just kill himself?

Authorities would not say how the victims died, but District Attorney Gerry Leone described it as a "horrific, disturbing and unspeakable" scene.

1. Winchester is one of the richest towns in the State. The Boston
Globe is reporting this morning that there may have been financial problems. He had been unemployed for a while and had just started working again. According to the Globe, he and his wife may also have been fighting about how to raise the children.

2. Another instance where bringing guns into the household turned into a tragedy
In all likelihood, Mr. Mortimer originally wanted to keep himself and his family "safe," yet like so may others- before and still to come, it ended up quite a bit differently than he planned.

9. Nice try
"Leone said Mortimer used “blunt force trauma and sharp objects’’ to kill his family, though he did not specify the weapons."

From the Boston Globe.....

You fail

12. You need to fear the FlexCache appliance
soon coming to a town near you. Just like in china and saudi, to prevent you from getting to much information. I suggest you worry about your degrading rights before you push to remove mine.

15. Next DWI death, Next Medical error. irrelevant.
you can stack all the bodies up you want. These dead people have nothing to do with my right to own a firearm legally.

You want to go ban beer and doctors next?

Hey how is it possible a mass killing happened in the UK? Strict laws there right.

16. Although I agree there needs to be better gun laws out there....
You were wrong in this case and the adult thing would be to say " opps, I was wrong, my bad" rather then digging in and getting defensive. But maybe there is some history between you and the poster that I don't know.

10. Transcends Generations
Men (and some women) have been murdering their families for centuries instead of facing their own failures.

As my Grandfather's 1st Theology professor stated, 'Man is no damn good'
