Karenna Gore and husband separate
Source: Seattle Times

Another Gore marriage is on the ropes.

The eldest daughter of Al and Tipper Gore, Karenna, has been separated from her husband, Andrew Schiff, for a couple months.

Two friends of the family who spoke on condition of anonymity say the couple is seeking counseling.

The former vice president and Tipper Gore announced just last week that they were separating amicably after 40 years of marriage.

I have often hoped that Karenna would run for political office. I'm also wondering how much her separation from her husband might have to do with what's happening with her parents right now.

1. goodness
bad luck for the family, but marriage is tough these days.

It's one thing to stay married for life when you live to be 40 or 50, quite another when you live to be 70 or 80.

2. This one really saddens me; the 'other,' not so much.
Hope counseling works.

3. I hope the counseling works, too
Three small children? Oh, no.

I've always liked Karenna, and looked forward to voting for her someday.

6. Unhappiness????? Maybe everyone is relieved to not living with
someone you don't really care all that much about anymore. No more arguing, etc. Unhappiness?...Meh. Relief along with peace and quiet...You Betcha.

7. I doubt one has much to do with the other.
Long marriages are not the norm these days. They probably just ran out of love, it happens to the best of couples.
